Gone in this creek for years.

I live by a large metro park, pretty much, you walk less then two hundred yards from my house and you will be in Blendon Woods. A creek, and a gate separate the park's land, from my neighbor's land.

About a mile of the creek my neighbor has bought the property of. And with my family having five kids, he has always let us go in there and play. I'm the youngest of the five, and I'm also the only one who will still go in there. I've been walking the creek for years, I feel fine being in there alone. I've gone to day camp for eight years now, and resident camp for five, I know what sounds nuts make as they fall off the trees, I can tell different tracks, I know what areas I don't go in because it's an animal's nesting place. I'm a total nature girl, and I feel as if this creek is my second home(well, it is pretty close to my real home).

I was walking in there a few hours ago, it's really peaceful, and it's a nice place to go when you want to just stop thinking. That's what I wanted so I went in there.

I'm completely conferable in these woods and in that creek, but today was kinda of a different story.

I went in my usual way, and when I saw that it was dry as bones, I decided that it was safe enough to go over to where the deep waters normally were. I walked over there, and I felt someone watching me. I turned around and looked, no one was there.

I continued walking, and a little ways down I saw an awesome spiders' web that I just had to take a picture of. Before I could get out my phone to take a picture or two, something weird happened. I don't know how to explain it really. Something like fell into me, like a body. It wasn't cold like spirits are said to be, it was just room temperature. I got a tingly feeling in my arms, I got goosebumps, and I could feel all the hair on my arms stand up. It was like someone pushed me, but I didn't move, they did. Like they pushed right through me. I started walking as soon as I could away from that area.

I walked down to where the deeper water normally is and I took a bunch of pictures. As I was walking back to where I came in from I was looking at my neighbor's bridge that allows him and his wife to cross over onto the other side of their lawn which is on the other side of the creek. I turned my head to the side because I heard something move, and out of the corner of my eye I saw a black shape near the bridge. I looked back, it was still there. I blinked, it was gone. I went over there and yelled out "Anyone out here with me?" about seven times, and I gained no response. I turned around and started to look for buckeyes on the rocks when I saw the same shape crouched right behind the bridge, as if it were trying to tempt me to go further then allowed.

I walked that direction as far as my neighbor lets us, he doesn't want us playing near the bridge in fear that we could harm the plants he has potted on and around it. I called out for someone to step forward, but no one did.

I am now very intrigued about what I saw by his bridge. I can say that the second time was because I expected to see it, but the first time I was thinking about school, no odd black shapes there. Not like that anyway. And when I turned my head, it was still there.

I have been going into this creek since I was five years old, most likely even younger but I can't remember going in before five. Nothing like this has ever happened to me while in there. I don't want to say that it's paranormal, because then the creek just won't be like a mini-getaway from my normal life because I always read about the paranormal. I don't want it to be, but what do you guys think?

RE: Gone in this creek for years.
The first thing I notice is your taking pictures so why didn't you take any of the dark shapes?

You felt something jumped through you but didn't move, can you describe the feeling more? Could it have been a branch, or possible a large bird or animal?

Feeling uneasy can be many things.

RE: Gone in this creek for years.
The shadow you saw could have been some kind of animal that wasn't obviously identifiable. And like UNR said, there are lots of things that can cause uneasy feelings.

You say you read about the paranormal a lot, and that might be planting some seeds for you. This is a place that you seem very familiar with..what history do you know about it?

Now another thing I notice is you mention the creek being dry in spots, its possible that decay and bacteria may be putting toxins in the air. These may be neurotoxins and effect your thinking.

I didn't think to take a picture to be honest. The first time I saw it, I wasn't sure if it might be my neighbor, or an animal. But when I walked over, and no one was there I thought that I should maybe take a picture(but I never did). I didn't want to take a picture, I'm glad I didn't. I'm scared to what would, or what wouldn't show up in it. And, it only happened twice. I'm pretty sure the second time it happened was because I was expecting it to happen.

I can try, but it's really hard to explain. It wasn't like it jumped through me, but like it fell onto me, but instead of hitting my back, it like went inside, then out real quick. No, I was standing in the middle of the creek where none of the branches can reach. And it wasn't a solid. I don't know how I to explain it considering I don't have a poetic mind. It was something, it had mass, but it wasn't a solid.

Yeah, I wanted to make sure that I did mention the paranormal thing because I know that could affect what I think about it completely.

Nothing, I know nothing about it. I'm not even sure of the name of the creek.

Thank you for saying that my mind is being messed with. XP
It's always dry in the last week of August, always. But it's never dry for long. I went in a week ago, and it was rushing with water. It's completely dry now. I don't know what neurotoxins are...

RE: Gone in this creek for years.
A neurotoxin is like a poison to the human brain. Many types of organisms produce substances that are toxic to humans. These include organisms found in estuaries and the ocean, cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) found in fresh water, fungi (mold) found in indoor air and outdoors, and some types of bacteria. What it can do while small exposures may not pose any long time effects but can short circuit the brain actually altering your normal think pattern. So you may experience things that didn't happen. When a body of water dries up if only for a short period can be loaded with lots of these.

Now if your in farm country chemicals used to spray fields and toxins used on a farm can and do wash down into creeks. As the water recedes it leaves exposed toxins, bacteria and molds.

RE: Gone in this creek for years.
Also, just some further food for thought is that the creekbed may well lay over a limestone, quartz or granite deposit. This could be relevant for several reasons, first that stone tend to hold small amounts of radiation which could affect your thinking processes, generally this occurs only after years of exposure. You live very close by, have been in the area and on the property for years...it's not such a bad theory. Some research on the geological area done at the local library could give you some answers. The absence of water right now may intensify effects of the stone deposits as well. If you have access to a GPS...get the longitude and latitude readings and check the US Geological website for the survey on the location here; http://www.usgs.gov/pubprod/

UNR's suggestion on toxins in the drying creekbed isn't a bad theory either. Moss, mold and peat can cause neurological (brain chemistry related) and psychological reactions including muscle twitches, headaches and again, hallucinations.

The second reason the stone deposits in the area could be relevant is that deposits of limestone particularly along with other stones and clay veins within the earth hold and store residual energy. We know it retains radiation which is a form of energy, and it can hold other energies as well. Many hauntings which are considered to be residual, like recordings of past events and people which play over and over like a scene in a movie are found to be in areas with limestone particularly (but with other natural stone deposits as well).

I have no doubt that you saw and felt something. I hope you take the opportunity to do some research and see what you can find about the location. Look into any local history as well, see if possibly there were any reports of accidents or drownings in the creek. You have a wonderful opportunity here to find out about the history of the land and may discover some things that todays locals and neighbors never knew. Gather all your info and write an article. You are a wonderful writer...you have such an opportunity here.

Let us know what you find, I would love to hear more!
