Wink RE: Getting started on Astronomy
Hi,
I also am into astronomy the first thing I would recommend is looking for clubs on the internet, there are alot of them. You can learn alot from other people. I don't know where you live but I live in France and we have astronomy clubs here, one that I joined and belong to. There are numerous books you can buy also the best one I own is called "Atlas of the Sky" published by Grund. As far as eqipment goes that depends on what you really want to look at alot of things in the sky can be seen with the naked eye others you can buy also a pair of binoculars on a tripod which will let you see the craters of the moon Venus the things closest to the earth depending on how far you want to explore that depends on how much you're willing to spend. My first telescope that I ever owned is made by Bushnell and came with a hand held tracking device that when you put in the day year and hour it actually tells you which position the stars constellations ect are. Also I recommend that you get a subscription to Astronomy magazine they have a sky map in each issue............Good luck!!

Hey you Geogirl how are you??

I've seen alot but quite simply the most amazing thing I've ever seen was a shooting star.............I know that sounds boring but I made a wish lol!
P.S. forgot to say to essence that you will need a compass to orientate yourself in space Smile also you can google the latitude and longitude of your area too to know exactly where you are in the sky!

Not doing too bad i guess... Shooting stars aren't boring at all, as you said we can make a wish when we see one....

Essence will be back on and see this message ..... I can just imagine the image you get when looking up at the stars....
