RE: Sleep Paralysis, with shadow people..scary
Have you ever heard the story of the blues singer Robert Johnson? Legend has it that he sold his soul to the Devil for a career in music. It's a myth, but it makes for an interesting story.
Sleep paralysis is widely believed to be a natural phenomenon without a paranormal connection...although the experience itself does feel paranormal. What I do think is that we get out of life exactly what we put into it. If you spend your time in negative thoughts and actions, it is going to begat more negative. Now in my opinion, this can vary from person to person as far as what creates that energy. I hope things are better for you and that you're filling your life with a lot more positive. I think any time that fame and fortune becomes the be all and end all of your existence, you are in essence selling your soul. I am not saying every famous person or every musician has sacrificed their soul for the almighty dollar or their fame, but I do think the temptation is a lot stronger.
As in all things, it is up to the person involved. "When you feel like a toad on the highway of life... and everyone seems like a steel-belted radial... when you're lyin' there squished in an assortment of bodily fluids... at least you left your mark." ~Arnie Dogan, "The Red Green Show" |

RE: Sleep Paralysis, with shadow people..scary
It doesn't matter what you desire the most in our lives, you know who, knows just what that is for each and everyone of us... And we are all just human, we all desire something... Beauty, love, money, fame, power... the list goes on and on. But we poses the most powerful thing of all already your soul... It is the end all be all...
You are going through what a lot of us did, when we where young. Maybe there are some on here right now going through it right with you... Life is like a book, we just get on different chapters. I'm on my chapter, your on yours. We can only do the best we can, and treat others, as we want to be treated... All will be well... RE: Sleep Paralysis, with shadow people..scary
I have had a couple of instances of sleep paralysis, it happens off and on. I know how you feel, it is a very scary feeling. After researching the phenomena, I'm convinced that it is a neurological event. Forgive me for not knowing the chemical off the top of my head, I want to say melatonin but I'm not sure that's right. Anyway, your brain releases this chemical while you are sleeping and regulates its flow through your body, tapering it off when it is getting closer for time to wake up. Sometimes, you wake up too fast and this chemical is still strong in your body causing minor paralysis and mild hallucinations. For myself, I noticed it happens more when I am stressed about something. Stress causes your body's natural cycles to get all out of whack.
Hope that helps some! |

RE: Sleep Paralysis, with shadow people..scary
I noticed when i had it happen I slept in another area of my home and the EMF was extremely high in that room.
This condition is especially common in people who experience narcolepsy, but it is also associated with lack of sleep, poor sleeping conditions, stress, and other sleep disorders. On its own, sleep paralysis is not inherently harmful, although it can be scary, and it can also be a sign of a more serious problem which needs to be addressed. Repeated episodes of sleep paralysis, especially if accompanied by terrifying hallucinations, are definitely cause for a trip to the doctor. When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence. |

RE: Sleep Paralysis, with shadow people..scary
I think (and this is just a suggestion) that when the brain wakes before the body does, it is possible that the shadows seen can be the remnants of dreams. The nervous system as well as the endocrine system are still keeping the body in a paralyzed state, so it could be that the activators in the brain are still stimulating the dream process. In this half asleep, half awake state, it's possible that the images would appear as shadowy images.
I will say that UNR is right as far as many incidents and severe hallucinations. Definitely want to rule out anything medical that could be harmful to you. I know that a lot of people experience things like this, God Blessed, and you are definitely not alone.
