Ouija Boards & Voice Recorders

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I have searched the older threads and couldn't find any old discussions on this subject.
Reputable people in the field often warn people from attempting to make contact with spirits by using Ouija Boards, but they often use Voice Recorders when trying to interact with an intelligent haunting. Or they might even provoke a spirit to manipulate a nearby object.
Why is one method of communication (made and mass produced by 'Parker Brothers') considered 'bad' and an invitation for unwanted (possibly demonic) activity, and the other a regular tool of the trade?

I am one of those that find Ouija boards harmless. I agree that a digital recorder, a dowsing rod, even your trying to talk to them should all be just as dangerous. I think with the Ouija board people believe its capable of evil so they create it in their mind.

Also spirit boards existed long before Parker Bros, mass produced them..
I also do not believe in Provoking a spirit at all.
I also am very skeptical on a voice recorder it can pick up all kinds of things CB's Short wave radios etc,. EVP's arent the end all be all defining moment of a "haunting" or something paranormal but just a jumping off point if you catch something.

Right, that makes sense. I'd think an ouija board has no power in itself, similar to other tools like recorders and dowsing rods. It's true that no matter what kind equipment you have, the most potent tool one has to the spiritual realm is their mind.

Its amazing what we can manifest to be reality when fear of the unknown takes over. It can and has caused hysteria at its best look no further then Salem Mass, and the Witch trials..

That's actually a myth. Ouija boards only existed about a year before Parker bros. bought the rights.

I have one that my great great grandmother had. Bracket the term Ouija Board was invented a year before Parker Bros coined the phrase and baught the rights but a Spirit Board as a divination tool is very old Pagans used to carve devises like those from stone or in dirt. UNR has it right. Objects can't be good or evil.It' what people do with them & the mindset they use that can create the problems.
If you percieve that something is opening a dangerous door - then
perhaps it can.
