My Apartment
Sponsor Messages My roommate and I moved into our apartment a year ago. Right from the get go, we knew something was up. There are certain parts of the apartment we avoided. I just called them the creepy spots: where the hallway meets the living room, the doorways to both bedrooms, and the storage room. I have never gotten good feelings about these spots. I always feel like I'm being watched. Especially when I watch TV or am on my computer (like now) and when I am trying to sleep. I'll give you an example of some of the physical experiences I've had: For the first month of us being her, our TV would turn on and off by its self (possibly the remote from someone else in the building?), things seem to fall by themselves (cooking utensils on wall hooks) (small vibrations in the building?). Something else that I find odd that still happens is when I sleep out in the living room, (yes, since my roommate moved out a month ago, I will only sleep in the living room), I will be laying there and it will be dead silent but, what I do hear is the cushion of one of the chairs in the living room moving. (its a leather chair so the sticky kind of crinkly sound of leather is very obvious) I don't know how to explain it. It moves so slowly. It doesn't sound like someone was to all of a sudden sit in it but, it sounds as if someone is slowly adjusting it. Now, what makes me really feel that there is something else in my apartment other than me, isn't what I see physically but, what I feel. There is a constant feeling of being watched in my apartment. Where ever I am. I've never felt this before I moved here. What I am about to describe may sound unreal and I trust that many who read this will just pass me off as crazy but, at the height of this haunting , or whatever it is, when I would try to sleep I would get voices in my head. This would happen at the very moment I was between consciousness and sleep. In a few instances I was awoken by my name being screamed. This wasn't a normal scream, it was a deep, disgusting scream. At other times of being awoken, I would here a voice, I have no idea what it was saying because it was definitely not in English. It was start soft and quite. It become louder, faster, and more violent until it was the same voice that would scream my name. It was almost like a chant but it didn't repeat itself. It's so hard to describe. It was almost like one long word because there were no breaks or breaths. Like a chain of verbal sounds. I feel like whenever I research or watch something that has to do with the paranormal or paranormal studies, it gets stronger. What I would like to know is, am I just freaking myself out? Or, does it see that when I research, I am acknowledging that it's there, and I am just making myself vulnerable? Thanks for reading and the for replies! Austin |

RE: My Apartment
Actually i kinda identify with that also. Its a strange feeling you get like there's someone or something else there. The feeling is very spooky, and dark. There are numerous people here that can relate and give you good input on this.

RE: My Apartment
I also failed to mention something. I talked to one of my old teachers from high school about this. (He teaches Native American studies, culture, art, and languages) He recommended that I smudge the apartment with sage to get rid of bad energies. I did this and it seemed to work for quite some time. This have just started to get creepy again within in the past couple of months. |

I know what you are saying. There can be negative things in the apartment. Not sure which ones. But many times I felt them if there is one in someones house.I lived in the apartment also a few years ago.It was rented.Apartment was nice and big but when I enter in the kitchen strange feelings came through me.Like somebody is there. And weird energies.I thought that was my imagination.I didn't say anyone about this.As I newly moved in apartment my friends came over to visit me and see my new apartment. When they came in the kitchen they also get that feeling as I was.Especially the bed, nobody didn't want to sit on it or even be in the kitchen. From fun they named it "the dead couch" .So I told them that I have the same feeling. I didn't want to know what happened there,I moved to new apartment. |

RE: My Apartment
Austin, welcome to the forum.
I think we've all experienced that creepy feeling of being watched in one or more places. I know I have. We all know high EMF in a particular area of a home can cause the feeling of being watched. It can even make some people physically ill. In a kitchen that could definitely be the problem due to appliances. I would find that less likely to the be reason in a doorway or hall. However in an apartment building, who knows how the wiring was done. The voices are a different matter that occur between sleep and being consciously awake. This could be nothing more than sleep paralysis but that doesn't fit the classic description, so I don't think in this instance that is what it is. The rest of my opinion on that is based on my "gut feeling". I also have a friend experiencing this right now but I truly do not feel hers is sleep paralysis at all due to other factors going on and she hears them when fully awake. On the other hand, there could be negative energies present. That same thing could be what you experienced at your Dad's apartment. Your description is of a shadow figure. Please read Lady Kamae's Energy thread http://www.talkparanormal.com/thread-834...Lady+Kamae Personally, I think the smudging was a good idea .... if done properly. I don't know how you did yours. You might also consider doing a blessing. As far as appliances turning on and off, I don't have the answer to that. We had a TV that did that, but finally assumed a component was overheating. In all honesty, I don't know that was the case at the time. I wanted to believe that was it as other activities had died down. A stereo coming on when turned off is something else. Timer would be the first thing I would check for sure. Then I would unplug it at night to see what happens. As far as delving further into paranormal research and experiencing more things ... tough one. I feel that those with gifts may experience heightened awareness. I think also it can be the result of an overactive imagination especially after just viewing a program. The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind. - Kahlil Gibran |

RE: My Apartment
Austin- Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I'm not surpised one bit if it is unsettling you. To feel nervous and afraid in your own home is one of the worst things so I feel bad for you. You mentioned you tried smudging Sage in your apartment... I read something recently.... that when a home is blessed or exorcised etc, sometimes the haunting can settle down for a while only to return stronger later because it is "annoyed" at the fact that people want rid of it... Maybe this is the case with you. But persevere, I think. Maybe try the smudging ceremony again? I think if you fight this entity enough it might pass on. All you can do is try, I suppose you don't have much to lose from it. How about also having your home blessed or exorcised by a priest or something? Some people have success that way. Also, maybe when you are experiencing that feeling of being watched etc, you could try filming about the apartment to see if you can catch anything on camera? Keep us updated. |
