Non-Mainstream Vampire Books

Sponsor Messages
The most popular "vampire" series are written by Ann Rice (Lestat, etc.), Stephenie Meyer (Twilight) and Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood).... Does anyone have any vampire book recommendations that aren't written by those authors?

I'm a little vampired out right now (I haven't even cracked the set of Sookie Stackhouse books I got for my birthday back in February)... but I have a non-mainstream favorite to share. It is a YA book that I enjoyed as a kid. It's a stand-alone novel called "Companions of the Night" by author Vivian Vande Velde.

There's 13 Bullets, 99 Coffins, Vampire Zero and 23 Hours by David Wellington. It's nothing like those books. If you're looking for romantic vampires, this isn't the series for you.

There's 'Staked' and 'ReVamped' by J.F. Lewis, there's some romance in there but nothing like the twilight series. There's death, violence, some werewolves, and demons.... I actually enjoyed them.

I'm currently reading a series by Diane Whiteside, Texas Vampire Series. Its a little hard to follow, but i enjoy that in a book, keeps me thinking. So far i don't mind the first book.

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." -Coco Chanel...

That's definitely the most interesting plot line I've heard in a while, haha. I'll have to look into that one. Have you read it, and was it any good?

I am because I need to be.

Oh, i can't believe i forgot this one. American Vampire is a comic series co-written by Steven King. It follows the evolution of vampirism through American history. It's up to 4 issues at the moment, and i have 2, so far it's jumped back-and-forth from the old west to 1920's hollywood. I'd highly recommend it and advise that it's not for kids.
