RE: Camarillo State Mental Hospital
We are going up to Ventura at the end of the month for Warped Tour. Camarillo is on the way. We are talking about leaving early and stopping by the college. If we do, I will take pictures to post.

Yay!!

What would you do if you knew nothing about me, yet I said that I'd protect you with my life, then died doing just that and later you discovered I was someone you would've hated had our paths crossed under different circumstances?

It's all just one big *facepalm* around here.

I heart Sandra Bullock.

At least, the though of being trapped in one overnight whilst multiple malevolent spirits and otherworldly beings is what I'm intrigued by. I can't say I'd hate to have the experience, so long as I were to live through it. My friend told me a completely bone chilling story about him and another friend of his exploring an abandoned slaughter house deep in the night.
Oh and I forgot to add, there has been an ambient album (where the music is pure sound, as in doors closing, wimpering, footsteps, eerie moaning, that kind of stuff). It is by the Axis of Perdition, and is titled Deleted Scenes From The Transitional Hospital. I can safely say, this is the only ambient horror music that has made me too scared to sleep. I'm only writing about it because all the music takes place in an abandoned mental hospital though. If anyone cares to hear it, the best songs are Deleted Scenes I: In the Hallway of Crawling Filth, and Entangled in Mannequin Limbs.

The career academy I went to was an old mental hospital. The only new buildings on that property is the dorms & cafe. They still have alot of the old stuff there, such as the electro shock therapy tubs/incinerator with ashes still there to this day. The mattresses that are being used in the dorms are from an actual asylum which is real creepy in itself. Many people on the campus claim to have experiences. Even inside there dorm rooms, and those dorms are new. The old building that was used to keep the patients in is shut down due to espestice ( how ever it's spelled) Being in there. Though alot of people sneak in there at night it's dangerous to do so because of that which I mentioned and there's the risk of falling through the floor the building is so old.

Here you go, if you want to check it out. Now the person who created this website had special permission to go inside the old building.

RE: Camarillo State Mental Hospital
I noticed someone mentioned the LA Weekly article at the beginning of this thread. If you google LA weekly A Trip To Purgatory, you can find it. I can't post links on here. It's about former patients taking a tour of the CSUCI campus. It's very eye-opening, and funny how the tour guide avoids all their questions about the hospital! Camarillo is my all-time favorite place to ghost hunt. Now it's getting harder and harder to get inside the buildings. Most are locked at night when the students are gone. It's creepy by the library and in the South Quad. I will post more on my experience there later.

RE: Camarillo State Mental Hospital
We went back to Camarillo this past summer. I was amazed by the progression of the renovations. Soon the property will be completely redone. The area where we original saw the concert appears to be the current phase of construction. I noticed a lot of the items had been removed, such as the children's play equipment, etc. I was able to barely see a mural by patients on one of the interior hallway (I hope they do not cover it). There is an area at the opposite end of the campus that has not been touched. It appears to be a low priority area. We spent most of our time in that area. I did think it was nice of CSUCI to keep the dedication plaque for the hospital.

Thanks for sharing the LA Weekly article. It is not the first time that I have heard that mentioning the hospital is taboo.

Have you ventured out to the Scary Dairy? I am not much of a hiking gal, but need to visit the dairy soon. There is talk of the college tearing it down.

I would like to hear about some of your experiences at CSUCI. Please feel free to share...

RE: Camarillo State Mental Hospital
Found this online the other day, it's an interesting article. I believe things like this are a huge part of why state hospitals are such paranormal hot spots.

PS - what is the "Scary Dairy"??? Lol

RE: Camarillo State Mental Hospital
The Scary Dairy is a dairy on the property, a short hike from the campus. With most mental hospital of the time, they grew and provided the majority of their food. I have read that patients worked out at the dairy as their work detail. The gentleman that ran the dairy was not the kindest person. It is said to be haunted. By the pictures I have seen it appears to be a place people graffiti.
