I Saw A White (Female) Apparition At My Grandparents House. She Was On The Stairs.

O.K, my grandparents house has been known to me haunted sense at least the 1960's. The owner that sold my grandparents the house in the 70's said: "My wife was having disturbing unexplained things happen in the house. She begged me to move out. It really frightened her."
My grandparents thought nothing of it. The went back to arranging there new home and new life. Sense they moved in, they noticed what the elderly couple was talking about. (I'll make different stories about each experience they have had.)
Anyway, in October of 2008, 2 years ago, I slept overnight at my grandparents house. There had been "family problems" sense I was about 6 and I hadin't been able to sleep overnight there sense then. I was still a little uncomfortable, and my gram knew, so she said I could sleep in the huge bed next to her in the master bedroom. My grandfather slept in a room down the hall.
I went to bed, fell asleep VERY shortly after, and I remember that I woke up out of a dead sleep. It wasin't like a normal paranormal experience. There was no "SLAM" or "BANG" or "CRASH" to wake me up. I just...awakened for no reason. Or so I thought.
I have this wierd thing were I HAVE to sleep with the door shut wherever I sleep.
And my grandparents bedroom door didn't shut all the way. It would only shut like a little more than halfway. I noticed it immediately and sat up. (Even though I was too lazy to get up and try to shut it all away again.) So it was open a little over a foot wide.
I was starred at the door for like 10-15 seconds. (I don't really know why) You can see the top of the stairs from looking out that door, and thats when I saw a pair of feet and the bottom hem of a long dress makes it away to the second to the last step of the stairs, and then step up into the hallway.
She was difficult to explain. Her appearance was kinda strange.
Imagine the outline of a younger, thin, female body, and then color its entire form white. Thats what she looked like. She had no color whatsoever. She was a white apparition in the shape of a young slim women. I could see the outline of her long flowing dress that went down to her ankles, her hair length, (which went to the center of her back) her head, neck, arms, and chest. I couldn't see her face because she was facing sideways, looking down the hallway where my grandfather was sleeping.
You know how they say that in most paranormal experiences ghosts don't really notice or pay attention to you? There mistakened in this experience.
After starring about 10-15 seconds down the hallway. She turned towards me. I saw her neck move, and her shoulders shift slightly. She new I was starring at her.
She had no face.
She was just...faceless.
She had no facial features at all.
We starred at each other for many, many seconds. Just starring. She never looked like she moved a muscle. Then, while she was still starring at me, she dissolved into a floating mist, and floated into the bedroom next door.
I can't really explain why, but they say when someone has there first ghostly experience, they freak out! But I didn't. I was more surprised. More fascinated. I couldn't stop starring at her. She wasn't really frightening. She seemed gentle and pleasant. Her movement was graceful. And when I new she was gone, I lay down and went back to sleep.
Now that I'm done, I want to share some history of the house.
In the past, a elderly woman who had lived in my grandparents house for over 30 years lived in the house. She was famous in the town. She wrote a few books in older age. One called: "Lest We Forget." She turned her house into a smaller museum with her lifetime collections of natural artifacts. Such as: Minerals, preserved insects in jars, turtle shells, snake skins, compressions of butterflies, ext. She loved spiders especially. She was famous in town for that too. She was in the newspapers more than almost everyone in town for a good part of her whole life. She was the librarian for the old library 2 buildings before her home. SHE WAS THE WOMAN OF THE TOWN! She tought as a teacher in her childhood state in New Jersey for over 20 years. Then in 1914, she moved back to her family town in Livermore, Maine. (A few towns away from where I live. ) This is where she lived in my grandparents old home for the rest of her life. She was loved by everyone. She died in Waterville, Maine in April of 1954. I don't know exactly what she died of, or what she was doing in Waterville, but in her obituary it said she had finally passed away after a long time of sickness. She was in her midd 80's when she died.
Her name was "Miss" Florence Agnes Nelson. She was never known to have married, dated, or have children. Though children loved her dearly and she loved them too.
I really believe the ghost I saw was Miss Nelson. Even though she died old, I wonder if I was seeing her spirit from when she was young?
I bought a ouija board a few weeks back, and I made contact with a spirit that called itself "Florence." I had started the session with: "Who is haunting this house? Who are you?" The board answered: "Hello, Its Florence. Hello."
I asked was she happy. She said: "Yes."
I asked if she was angry with what former owners had done to remodel her home. She said: "Yes, but no more."
I laughed when I saw that. My grandparents house is beautifully decorated with antiques. It dosin't make it look dumb or old fashioned at all. It's really nice. A beautiful house. I wonder if she liked the "older" theme.

I know when I was younger and saw what I believed to be a ghost...I wasn't really afraid either. More fascinated. There were times I felt afraid in that house, but not because of any spirits that might have been there...it just had a negative feel to it a lot of the time.

Ya, i noticed that in some houses too. ya, lol, i did research, but the old fashioned way! didn't find crap on my laptop. i got everything from newspaper articles, old pictures, and antiques from my grandparents house. my grandmother has some of the records of when miss nelson was becoming famous until her death. she made me copies, and then i found a FEW things on the internet, that i can't print! stupid computers!

You are a good writer, that was an amazing experience for you. Have you had any others?
I was thinking about one other thing you said, in the Bible it is written that when we die we will get to be at our most beautiful state, and then eventually we get to go be with our God. Just a thought I had because you said she was old when she died, but you saw a young girl. Very cool...

Hi Haley, really enjoyed reading this, my family have seen a spirit girl in our home, she is still here, we are not afraid of her although, she sometimes gives us a fright lol. She even put a gas ring on, That i have to say got me annoyed!!!!!

thats cool. oh, its not as uncommon as you think to be able to "see things" even at a young age. sometimes i think my family is what i call: "a magnet to the paranormal." my 2 twin cousins have had experiences sense they were 3. they are the ones who introduced the family tale of the ghost at my grandparents house. my grandmother says she has never seen anything with the decription of the white lady, but has seen black figures at the corner of her eye. one morning before she picked me up for a visit, she told me that when she was remaking the beds in her and my grandfathers bedroom, she looked slightly to the doorway and saw a black figure leaning against the frame. when she turned her whole body towards it, it scurried away.
but anyway, i don't believe my twin cousins were just imagining it because i have seen the "white lady" too.

i don't...recall. but, i always felt uncomfortable when i was upstairs at my grandparents house, but that is kinda normal for everyone who has ever been on my grandparents 2nd floor. it just...the upstairs is VERY quiet. you feel like someone is watching you. and for me... whenever i go up there, i feel REALLY uneasy. i get tense all over and my heart races sometimes. i feel that someone right behind all the time. even when i take a shower, i always want to keep the bathroom door shut. i just...feel there is someone there every moment.
my own mother when she first married my dad was afraid to go upstairs to go to the bathroom alone. so do my twin cousins to this day, lol.

cool. can you estimate how old she is? what she looks like?
miss nelson has never really frightened/annoyed anyone/my grandmother very much. its strange to me because like i said in my story, the couple that sold my grandparents house, the ones that left because the man's wife was being frightened, were scared...
actually... wait...oh, lol, now i know another story i can tell about my grandparents "hauntings." ill post it.

Yes I forgot to tell you that part my daughter said when she looked at it. It moved really fast side ways, like I guess she thought it was me. And I said what did it look like? I had a black outfit on, just so happened. And I was laying on the bed playing with our dog, and she came in the room and said mommy you where sneaking around the door looking at me trying to hide. And I said no I wasn't. I ask her what it looked like? She said it was a little taller than you mommy and I'm 5'5. so we have that information taller than 5'5, and black, with white blank face, moves very fast.
What do we think Watcher? I got my money on that Watcher... Whats your take?
