Haunted workplace....Anything weird happen to you at work?
#1
I was wondering if anybody here had experienced anything weird/paranormal at work?

My sister told me a few months back that she arrived to work in the early hours of the morning as she was very behind on her workload. She works at a local Magistrates Court. Anyway, she had to use her keys to get in as it was only about 6am and nobody usually turned up until about 8am.

My sister said that she went to her section of the office and sat down, and started her work when suddenly the telephone on her table started ringing. She said it made her jump because obviously the place had been silent....Anyway, she became more frightened when she saw that the phone was an INTERNAL call, meaning the caller from was ringing from inside the building. My sister became very nervous as a) it was calling at her desk b) the court was empty as it was so early. Nobody knew she was working, and nobody should have been there! Anyway she nervously picked up the phone and the line went dead. She got quite scared, and ended up checking the upstairs offices and the reception- nobody had arrived.

That story really made me feel creepy.

My husband says the care home he works in is haunted by a former resident....Two or three have seen the figure of a ghost there and now refuse to do the night shift!!

I currently work at a psychiatric ward which is SUPPOSED to be haunted. There have been some suicides there. I personally haven't seen anything there but feel weird in certain parts of the building....

Does anyone here have any good stories about the workplace?

The convenience store I used to work in was very old...and there were some things I saw that were creepy. I think the biggest one was when the baseball bat that we kept behind the counter...(oh yeah...and I wasn't afraid to use it!!)...fell down and slid across the floor. I wasn't the only one that saw it...the boss was there too, and she and I both were stunned. I was standing behind the counter, taking the cigarette inventory and I heard something fall behind me. It was the bat...and when I watched it slide across the area behind the counter, I hollered at my boss. She saw it too..and both of us were really glad we were not alone there! It almost seemed as though someone was sliding it across the floor on purpose.

There were a couple of other times that were eerie...a customer that seemed to literally be from another time, and strange noises (that I have since found out possible explanations for). But the thing with the bat was just too creepy.

Just one of the many things that has me wondering and keeps me searching for answers.

That story about the bat was creepy, Scarygirl. Did it make you nervous to work there?
Can I ask about the customer that seemed to be from another time...what was he/she like, and what made you think that? I get fascinated about stories of people in time-slips etc.

Oh yes, I remember him well...the strangest thing about it was I didn't see or hear him come in there. He was dressed in period clothing from the 1930's...had a bowler hat and everything. It was more than he looked old-fashioned...he seemed out of place. He came up to the counter and asked me what had happened to the Red Bird station. That had been the name of the place when it had been a full service gas station.

I told him Red Bird had been closed for years..this was Huck's now. I asked him if there was someone he needed me to call. He seemed very confused, but he smiled at me and left the store. Now I know you all know I believe in the paranormal...but the first real thought was that this was someone with Alzheimers or something else that was causing his confusion. I called the police and told them about it...said I was concerned about him getting completely lost or hurt. They came out of course and looked everywhere around there....no one saw him. The cops were really cool and didn't make me feel like I had wasted their time or anything...but I still felt a little foolish. Like..."did I really see him or am I the one who is confused!?"

I wasn't afraid to work there...but it never felt like I was alone, even when I was.

That's a great story. Maybe he was actually a spirit or somebody trapped in some sort of time-slip. What was weird was the way he asked where the Reb Bird station was, as if he thought everything should be as it was the time he was last there....making me wonder HOW LONG had he been away- and where?

My last job I had before this one was in an old hospital. I used to clean and sterilize surgical instruments. Anyways, the part of the hospital my department in was in the old part called the "North Tower" Well it was creepy enough as it was with just the name LOL. But the area I worked in was down in the basement and I worked 2nd shift so after 7pm I was by myself till Midnight and you would constantly hear the dumb waiters (big cart elevators that we used to send up carts to surgery and ICU) start going on their own and you could hear clanking on the shelves.

After a while you just got used to it. But it was still spooky

Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.

Yeeps! There's no WAY I would get used to that! That sounds so creepy, Witchmom..especially talking about listening to the dumbwaiters start by themselves.

And I thought I had a creepy bat! Your dumbwaiters definitely beat my bat!!

LMAO!!!! Yeah, I worked there for 3 years and we would all just laugh and joke. But we did have a few people before me that would quit after about 3 days of being on that shift

So creepy, Witchmom! If that happened to me even once, I wouldn't be able to work there, especially if I had to be on my own at all during shift.

In the care home my husband works, because a few members of staff have seen a spirit, there are lots of people who refuse to do the night shift there. I keep hoping my husband will come home and say he saw the spirit- but it hasn't happened yet (much to his relief.) lol.

At one of the group homes I worked at before, We would hear footsteps and doors closing upstairs when you were in the basement, when noone was there. You'd go upstairs and there would be no one. At another one, we had a client pass away. There was no one to take the ashes, so we kept them in the file cabinet. We weren't supposed to tell the new staff about it. On the night shift at that particular home you can sleep on third. Twice on third shift I woke to a scream in the middle of the night. I would check on the clients and they would all be sleeping or nothing wrong with them.
At one of the homes I work at right now, they say there is a ghost. I don't know if they are pulling my leg or not, but the manager has said it and several staff. The stories are as follows. There was one night when staff was outside several years ago, and she seen a man in a hoodie I think she said walking accross the street. As she looked at him she noticed she could see through him to the trees. She went in to get the other third shift person and when she came out he was gone. The other story was, they were out having a smoke break when they noticed throught the window that a cupboard was opening. Several months ago, I had depends come flying off a shelf at me. Then just a few days ago, there was clothes baskets sitting securly on a shelfing unit that came flying off the shelf. Noone was in the room, we found them on the floorafter a big bang, the washer nor dryer was going and nothing can explain it. The staff was mad and thought I did it because I was in the back of the house when it happened. About the same time, third shift worked and accross the street a black shadow cloud like thing passed by the treet lights. Well thats all my work stories.
I enjoyed all of these.
I was on a nursing forum that had alot of strange ghost stories, and about dead people that weren't quite dead, and near death experiences. Alo9t of good work place stories. Nurses.com or something like that.
