Haunted workplace....Anything weird happen to you at work?

This is not work related, but i have recently moved into an independent retirement home, yes i know i am young, but it is also for the disabled.

There are 4 different areas of buildings and they all interconnect. There are hundreds of residents here and as would be expected, many die of old age or thier illnesses. The 4 areas and building are, independent living, assited living, dementai ward, and the nursing home .

If you dont learn all of the long hallways, elevators, stairs and that sort of thing, you could end up anywhere!!! These buildings are all 3 stories high, i live on the first floor, as does my mom.

Spooky things that happen, and i have heard many stories.... We play cards at times in our common area on the first floor, when it gets late in the evening, the elevator doors will open and shut, the elevators will go up and down with no one one them. We have talked to maintenance about this and they have no clue why it is happening.

We also can hear what sounds llike people running up and down the exit stairs, and you know, no one around here can run. We always check it out and nothing.

I had mentioned a while back about my moms bed covers being pulled off her, and have found out that she is not the only one, others have had this happen also. A new lady that has been here about a month now, keeps seeing a man in her apartment, there have been 3 times that i know of, that she has come out in the hall and would not go back inside, untill someone went in with her.

Another lady has been seeing colors in her apartment at times and has even knocked on my moms door early in the morning, to take her to see. By then the colors are gone and this lady is terrified.

I have asked the maintenance men about any hauntings and they have told me that sometimes they go in two's, as they know certain areas, and apartments are haunted.

I have even talked to the head of house keeping, and she has told me about certain areas also. She has told me that some of her staff will not go into certain areas, or apartments to clean, as they have seen and felt things and went screaming out into the hall.

I have also talked to a couple of the cable guys that are out here a lot installing and fixing cable. They also come in pairs, as they have experienced a lot of sightings, touching, and that sort of thing.

Some of the people here dont sleep well, so they walk the halls at night, and that is another ball game,lol.... many have seen people in the hallways just dissapear.....

All of the doors are locked at night, and i am one of the ones who checks the doors, as i go to bed late. I take my dog with me!!!!

The wing that i live in has been renovated due to a flood about 13 years ago. This part was closed off for 10 years. My mom is one of the first in her apartment since the flood, and i am the 3rd person in this one since. Some people that have lived here for years will not come down our hallway, as they say it is haunted. By the way, when i say renovated,lol, i mean patched up.....

This place was built in the 60's and was a very promenent, expensive, ( well still is) place back then. At that time is cost 25 to 45 thousand $ to get an apartment, and still the monthly rent.

I am not afraid, as i am facinated by it all....... the only problem i am having is, the sound of bowling balls being dropped above my head at night. Some nights it goes on all night and my dog growls as he hears it also. The lady above me is elderly and asleep. I just tell it to please be quiet, and i actually get very irritated, as one night i jumped right out of bed thinking a bomb had gone off. Maintenance says there is no reason for this to be happening.

Anyway, sorry this is so long, there are more stories, as i hear new things every day!!!! Its an amazing place. I just feel sorry for the maintenance guys, as they are on the go constantly, and cannot find the problem many times.

Wow L2M, I love hearing stories about places like that.

I do painting and other work so I am in and out of customers houses alot. Sometimes 3-5 per week. Every so often I see shadows, sometimes full body apparitions, hear things, even get touched when no one is there. I work in older houses pretty often. I have an office in a office complex that is about 40 years old or so. And I do all of their remodeling work in exchange for the rent. There is a hallway behind every 3 offices with two bathrooms per hallway. They are usually very dark and not very well lit. So often I get a creepy feeling from them. Well one day I was doing some work in one of the bathrooms. I happened to look at the mirror and I saw an old man with gray hair wearing blue jeans and a blue checkered shirt. He turned around and walked out of view of the mirror. I think it is the builder and original owner of the complex. I know that he put all of his pride and joy into building that place. So it would make sense as to why he would be "checking up on" me and my work.

As a side note I have another short but interesting story. My mother worked at the high school I went to years before I ever went there. She was one of the cleaning ladies that came in after school. Well the school is atleast 100 years old and has 4 floors. Many people have reported strange things happening on the fourth floor. These days only a few of the rooms are used for anything other than storage. But back in that day my mom would be cleaning up there and things would move around from where she put them. She would hear voices, or hear things like someone writing on a chaulk board etc. Or she would be tapped on the shoulder. She told me these things occured quite often. Eventually she quit working there because of it. I only ever had to go up there a handful of times. Didnt like the feel of it at all.

I just thought about a job i had for a few months, it was a tellamarketing job for a alarm company. The company was small, and me and one other girl would go in the evenings to make calls, and try to book appointments.

This office was actually an old house that had been fixed up, so it originally had living room, kitchen, bath, and 3 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms was out room to make phone calls.

The biggest bedroom was used for a conference room for the sales guys. There where many night that we could here the chairs moving around in that room, when i would go to check, they would be all over the place. They where supposed to be in rows. You could actually hear them sliding across the wood floors.

In the kitchen there was a door to a basement, which i never explored. I remember hearing the door rattle many times. As there where 2 of us there working together, this used to scare the daylights out of us. I did tell the owner about all of the happenings and he said this type thing happened often, and that there was no other entry to the basement.

The last straw was, one evening as we closed up about 9 pm. and it was dark outside. The girl i worked with was standing right behind me as i locked the door. Next thing i knew, she was laying out in the yard. She got up and was shaking like a leaf, she said that she had been almost picked up and pushed that far out into the yard, and i was only turned away for a few seconds. She was a big girl, almost 6 ft tall and big boned.

After that we both talked to the owner and explained why we had to quit. Our nerves could not take any more of it.

I had also heard some of the sales guys talking about the chairs moving around.

WOW I was a care provider I also use to work with hospice... I did allot of in home care... this is one story. it was any regular night and I was sitting in the same room with a patient she lived a long good life and God was calling her home... her husband had passed away 2 years earlier. We had allot of funny talks and she told me allot about her growing up in Oakland... as I sit next to her bed listening to her ragged breathing praying that each breath she took wasn't her last, yet knowing it was her time. I was the only one there when I started hearing noises coming from the other room.

I tried to ignore it, but the more I ignored it the more the noises would happen and get louder. So I got up and went to look! her house was pretty big her hospital bed was set up in the family room that was also connected to the Kitchen. The noise was coming from the other side of the house where the bed rooms were. So I took a deep breath and stepped through the door way that lead to the living room and Dinning room.

I had to walk through the 2 rooms no one was there again I heard the noise this time more clearly like someone moving something. I walked to the front door that was located on the other side of the dinning room it was locked then *bang* I heard the noise again coming from the bed room... so I walked down the short hallway that lead to the bedrooms. before I can get to the hallway that crosses the one I was walking through I heard as clear as day somebody walking down the hall from the back bedroom. talking about being scared what can I do but confront who ever it was I had a woman in the family room dying.

So I did the most insane thing a woman can do with out a weapon I jumped in the path of who ever it was coming down the hallway! But there was no one. So I checked the bedrooms they were all empty... then I checked all the doors leading outside and windows they were all shut and locked. I went back to the dinning room and checked on my friend who I dearly loved she was still breathing she was still with us thank God.

I sat back down and the noises started up again... now I have been taking care of this lady for awhile nothing like this has happen before, her house is not and never was haunted. For some reason this night was different I felt it in the air. Again I get up and check it out again same thing happens and again nothing. When I go back to sit down in the chair I have been sitting in all day the noise starts up again, so I get up this time mad. I said to who ever making all the noise, "Do you mind some one is trying to pass away peacefully here. can you stop making all that noise!" The noises stop then in a soft voice I hear, "I know, I am waiting for her." I turned to see her husband standing in the hallway. I smiled at him he smiled back... 3 days later she passed away.

Wow K2M... You've had some amazing experiences! I think it's wonderful that you don't let the situation make you feel unsettled or uncomfortable in your home. Many people would find themselves getting nervous (me included!!) but I think because you've been in-touch with the spiritual side all your life, you feel okay about it. Thats a good thing.

I love hearing your experiences. The staff at the place where you live must feel pretty nervous or they wouldn't travel in two's only! So is it mainly things you sense and hear? Have you seen any physical spirits at your home?

Definitely. at a job i had a lady died in the cooler..andd i was stocking it (yea lucky me) and a customer was trying to get my attention and he opened the cooler door and said hello..but it wasn't his voice. it was a female voice i heaard. then we were closing up and my coworker and i both heard a male hello but there was no one in the store. she was creeped out. lol.
