RE: audio program
How good do you want it?
They can range from free like Audacity to thousands of dollars.
Audacity is not a bad one..

What is it you want to do exactly?

RE: audio program
Audacity is good if you download the plug ins.

Here are some other recommended programs. I personally use adobe audition.

RE: audio program
I have several audio programs, but I prefer audacity beta. It comes with noise removal, not noise reduction like practically everything else has. I'm sure many will say removal or reduction, what's the difference ? A lot ! Noise reduction can and will produce musical sounding artifacts, and the more it's used, the worse it gets ! I'm sure everyone has heard evps all over the web, where noise reduction is over used, and the results are pure crap ! With noise removal, it does just that, it removes noise with no left behind artifacts. If a file is really terrible, you can run two and three passes of noise removal, with no depreciation in quality and no artifacts. Of course anything can be over done, and if you see a reduction in the actual evp, you've gone too far.

RE: audio program
For years I used Cool edit pro, then adobe bought them out and changed it to adobe audition. I resisted switching but once I did I fell in love with audition. It would do things that I needed plugins with cool edit. So if you have the money go with audition if you don't audacity is decent free program.
