Carbon Monoxide Detectors
As we find more and more causes of paranormal we need to make sure we don't ignore carbon monoxide. Every investigation team should have a few of these detectors on investigations. Ask questions like are the appliances gas? Gas dryer, hot water heater, gas stove, and your furnace, find out if any have recently been replaced and then look for a carbon monoxide leak. Does the home have an attached garage and do they warm up their vehicles?

Why you ask? Well carbon monoxide has been proven to cause paranormal and its been known since 1921. The American Journal of Ophthalmology published a case study involving a couple who moved into a house and promptly began to suffer headaches, listlessness and strange auditory and visual hallucinations (footsteps, mysterious figures, strange sensations, etc.). Their symptoms were finally traced to a faulty furnace. Could the fact paranormal activity rises in the winter months be tied to carbon monoxide poisoning?

A more recent case in 2005 involved a woman who was found delirious and hyperventilating after seeing a “ghost” while taking a shower; respondents discovered a new gas water heater had been improperly installed, flooding her house with carbon monoxide.

A story of a haunted house.

So lets add carbon monoxide to our list.
Causes of paranormal
Toxins
Carbon monoxide
Drugs, both prescription and street
Molds
Natural Magnetic fields
Electrical magnetic fields
And a great deal more items that alter our chemical and electrical communication in our brain.

When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence.

RE: Carbon Monoxide Detectors
About 6 months ago we had a consultation by phone and CO turned out to be the issue, the lady had her furnace replaced and within a week the 'events' stopped. After that we started bringing a CO detector on investigations.

RE: Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Again, it is good to have this information. I would also like to add that carbon monoxide poisoning can be subtle...and just because you aren't getting headaches or feeling ill doesn't mean it isn't getting into your home. It can deeply affect your perception of what is going on in your home. It can cause damage to the brain and death...way more dangerous than a ghost!

RE: Carbon Monoxide Detectors
I usually park my car in the garage, before warming it up i open the garage door, my hubby wont even let the care run at all with the door closed, not even in the summer time. Also, if you have a leak in your muffler system, this can cause fumes to come into the car, which can cause problems, or worse, kill you...

When we lived in Canada and had snow for many months at a time, many people died from snow clogging up thier tale pipes on thier cars. I do remember my dad plugging the car into the house at night to keep the motor from freezing!! Wow, that was a long time ago...

I really dont understand why people dont have carbon monoxide detectors in thier homes when they have gas lines running in.. I mean, we all have smoke and fire detectors... You can buy these things at Walmart very cheaply.... Common sence comes into play here, and i feel that many people dont have any!!! Blueud

Thank you UNR, very good post!!!!

We also have people here in the south that die often from leaks in thier homes,, and i just have to say,, DUH?????????
