Followed by a shadow person...
Sponsor Messages Upon venturing upstairs into the bedrooms(which had been added on over a few decades), I entered one room in particular which had a view of the neighborhood from the window. As I crossed the threshold, I didnt notice anything unusual, however as I got to the center of the room, I began to feel like I was being choked and got the impression of severe nausea. This got stronger as I approached that window and finally I had to leave the room as I needed to breathe. I have had a few psychic experiences in the past, so I decided to reenter the room in order to establish that it wasnt just me or imagination. Once more, as I entered it was okay until I hit midway toward the window, this time the feeling of choking was even more intense and I left the upstairs altogether. My sister looked around the house and we left, deciding that it wasnt what she was looking for. I didnt mention my experience to her as we began to drive away, however, she made the comment that "there's something wrong with that upstairs bedroom. It feels like someone's died in there or something." It was then that I told her what I had experienced and she concurred about the choking sensation. Two nights later I experienced a nightmare in which there was someone prodding at me to get my attention & not in a good way. It was so disturbing that I awoke from the dream and as I did so, I saw my cat standing beside me on the bed staring at soemthing with his ears back in a state of agitation. Looking where he was staring, I saw a shadow in the shape of a man, completely black and darker than the rest of the room, which was dimly lit from the bedroom window. I could feel this entity saying my name and I became angry..I felt instinctively that this shadow being had come from that house that I had visited. I began to recite the Lord's prayer and told this thing that I had not invited it nor was it welcome and it should leave immediately. It did so and as it departed, the cat's attitude changed entirely. I told my sister about this and she replied that she wasnt surprised as she had been having bad dreams as well. She put Holy Water in her car and around her apartment as a result because she felt this thing we felt in that house was malevolent..I think that's why I was visited and not her, even though she is closer in location. I have viewed glimpses of shadow people before at haunted locations, but never at the degree that this encounter was.. |

RE: Followed by a shadow person...
I had chills reading that! I might say that the shadow was your eyes adjusting after having been asleep..but that other experience having happened just two days before, it's no wonder you were spooked! I think you had the right reaction in praying and letting this presence know it wasn't welcome.
I do think there are other reasons for what could have happened, but I am also open to believing that some people are able to "pick up" on things better than others. Does anyone else in your family have a gift for this that you know about? When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence. |

Both of my sisters and niece as well as my grandmother were given to psychic impressions over the years. (12-28-2009 11:31 AM)UglyNRude Wrote: I agree with Scarygirl that it may be other things. Possibly a fear cage where high emf's are effecting you causing you to experience something strange. Having known about "fear cages" in the past, I looked for wiring,etc..that is known to produce this sort of reaction in a person. However, there was nothing in the area, above or below the room to possibly account for such a reaction. The fear cage theory doesnt acount for the shadow prescence a few days later or that cat could also sense this. The action of my speaking to the shadow certainly caused it to dissipate. |

The fear cage theory doesnt acount for the shadow prescence a few days later or that cat could also sense this. The action of my speaking to the shadow certainly caused it to dissipate. Just a couple of points. 1)Depending on the layout of the house, exposed wires would not be necessary to create a high enough EMF field to give you unpleasant experiences. There could easily have been copper pipes in the floor or ceiling of the room that could easily conduct sufficient enough EMF to cause you to become uncomfortable in the room. Not to discount your experience, but the notion of nausea really points me hard in the direction that EMF was distinctly involved. The choking could be explained by this as well (In Persinger's experiments with EMF, people felt like they were being touched, so choked seems possible). It also stands to reason that if you are EMF sensitive, your sister would be too. 2) The shadow man in interesting, but don't go relating the two incidents when there isn't any evidence relating them. Our minds like to link events and give them a cause instead of them seeming random. So, don't give in to that. You didn't see any shadow people in the house, so there's nothing to suggest that any shadow person followed you from the house. 3) If indeed the shadow man was genuine (please don't take offense to this... the notion that you woke up and saw it casts a lot of doubt as the mind perceives things bizarrely sometimes when it shifts from sleep to wake) then it wasn't so much you reciting the prayer as you having faith in the prayer. Regardless of religious preference there is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that all religions are able to dispel dark presences equally well. It is irrelevant whether the practitioner performing a cleansing/exorcism is pagan, islamic or christian.... they are able to expel things. Because it is very much about your faith and your believe in it, you didn't have to say anything. HOWEVER, there is nothing to suggest that religious implication has a whole lot of sway over a general spirit. Yes, houses can be cleansed and protected, but I've heard of very little strong evidence to suggest that simply saying a prayer and ordering an ordinary ghost will get you very far. The other point that ties into this is... if your family has a history of psychic incidents, it is possible that you manifested the shadow man. You recount that you were having a bad dream and awoke to see the shadow. If a history of sensitivity runs in your family there is always the possibility that you unconsciously manifested the shadow because of the dream. Your cat would react the same way (animals perceive energy differently and can react to normal, psychic and spiritual energy [anecdotally of course]) to a psychically created presence as they would to genuine spirit. |

RE: Followed by a shadow person...
I don't know what your personal faith is, but my advice would be to draw on whatever you believe is a central positive force and use that as protection. Visualize a white light around you, protecting you. Saying the Lord's prayer and telling this thing to leave was a very wise choice...and it shows that you believe in the power of protection. Also, if it happens again, write down everything you can remember about the incident as well as what else is going on at the time in your life and around you...see if there is any kind of pattern to it. I have read about people getting "attachments" or spirits that follow them, but I have also read that spirits are confined to one spot. My opinion is that there are some people who have the ability to see and feel things beyond this particular dimension....and I'm also wondering if the two incidents were necessarily connected. I know you feel that instinctively, and I do believe in "gut" feelings...but is it possible that these were two separate experiences? Just one more thing...are the family members that are psychic open to talking about it? "When you feel like a toad on the highway of life... and everyone seems like a steel-belted radial... when you're lyin' there squished in an assortment of bodily fluids... at least you left your mark." ~Arnie Dogan, "The Red Green Show" |

The family members that are psychic will talk about it, but usually only amongst family members due to the personal nature of some of the events. I have used faith at times to ward off "negative" entitities etc. I have experienced something similar in another location that had nothing to due with fear cages,etc.. |
