Robert Rines, dead at 87
Sponsor Messages Quote:Robert Rines, who died on November 1 aged 87, was an American lawyer, composer, inventor and physicist but best known in Britain as a cryptozoologist who used some of his inventions to try to prove the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. Full Story What would you do if you knew nothing about me, yet I said that I'd protect you with my life, then died doing just that and later you discovered I was someone you would've hated had our paths crossed under different circumstances? It's all just one big *facepalm* around here. I heart Sandra Bullock. |

Thats too bad. I've seen shows on him.
Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on the top of the dishevelled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame. (William Butler Yeats, "The Land of Heart's Desire," 1894) |

RE: Robert Rines, dead at 87
I didn't even see this thread~lol
In high school we had to pick a subject for speech that we could focus on for a persuasive speech...& I chose proving the Loch Ness monster is real...& I actually used Rines' flipper photograph as 'evidence'~ although maybe I should've actually looked up his story. lol Maybe it would've helped my case out a little more. He estimates Nessie's neck to be about 4ft to 5ft? Thats a tiny neck... especially for a plesiosaurus~I thought they had fairly long necks..at least half as long as their body length, which he estimated to be around 45ft. He also says Nessie may have died? Thats depressing to think about... although there may be more surviving plesiosaurus' out in the ocean... There's a few alleged 'sea monsters' elsewhere I thought... Unless I'm not remembering correctly...if not, maybe they died too though! "To really ask is to open the door to the whirlwind. The answer may annihilate the question and the questioner."
"But reason was only a created thing, imposed with faith upon the world, and the stars promise nothing to no one."

May he rest in peace.
His story is an interesting one,he really did go all out to prove the Loch Ness Monster exists, its a shame after all his efforts he never found Nessie. |
