RE: Ghost Hunter Academy
The notion of picking one time of the year to be decent to other people is obscene because it's actually validating the notion of being miserable wretches the rest of the year. |

I think there are members here that could do just as good a job or better in putting a show together and making it successful. I enjoy the show, but I think it suffers from 2 major problems 1) The participants don't seem to understand whats required to do the job. They don't understand the travel requirements. They don't understand the teamwork requirements. They don't understand the tech requirements. They seem like they just watched Ghost Hunters and thought "I can do that". 2) The network is obviously looking for Survivor: Ghost Hunters. They picked people who would be good for drama sake, and not for ghost hunting sake. Hence why you have the b*tch, the psychic, the jock, the nerdy looking guy, etc. (Heck, I'd go so far as to say the current problem case Jane, ended up on the team because the Susan wasn't creating enough drama, and they had her pegged as the drama type) I don't know if the TAPS guys had any hand in picking the participants, but they seem chosen by the networks to create cheap drama. Perhaps that's why they went exclusively for college age kids. |

RE: Ghost Hunter Academy
I just got done watching " The blame game " Ghost Hunters Academy episode & that girl Jane is the one who needs to go.. She seems like a total witch ( Not what I wanted to call her, but you catch my drift)..
The only one who I see in that whole group that has the potential of being the next Ghost Hunter is that new guy that came in.. forgot his name but he seems like he's serious about being part of the group. Speaking of which, that Chris guy was a waste of time.. Why apply to the academy to become the next Ghost Hunter if your so close to your family that you can't stand being away from them for a long period of time? I can understand why Steve and Tango got a little upset when Jane had mentioned out in the open that Chris said he didn't want to be there and wanted to go home. Chris should of thought about it before applying.. And it took the old people in the group a long time before I started seeing them write down notes and stuff. I wish I could apply & get lucky enough to be in the Ghost Hunting Academy.. I would be serious about becoming one of them, I would take down as much notes as needed to and I would ask questions when there's a chance. It kind of irritated me when at the beginning of the show with that so called " physic " girl she barely took down anything for notes. Never really asked any questions, which I could think of alot of questions to ask regarding the subject.. Plus on the episode where they go through that ship.. first she refuses to go on tour so now she know's nothing of where anything is and know's nothing of the history.. and all of a sudden when they go back in to get the stuff set up they wast about a half hour giving her a tour? Come on now.. she's not a real physic .. she's a phony. I'm glad they kicked her off of the team. Now all they have to do is get rid of that Jane chick

RE: Ghost Hunter Academy
I was unimpressed with the show. I actually liked Heathyr, the "psychic" girl who was replaced by Jane. Heathyr at least knew how to set up the equipment. Being a psychic, too... she really didn't need to know all the possible haunting stories-- if she really is psychic, she should be able to figure that out on her own or by feeding off the others. She should have still gone on the Battleship tour, though. Those ships are like mazes. The fact is Ghost Hunters is notorious for "Scientific Method" (flawed as it may be...) so she was bound to get kicked off anyway. The issue was she wanted to investigate her way and GH wanted her to investigate their (crappy) way. Steve and Dave (Tango) talked about neat setup and how it's important-- but they don't really talk about their mistakes... mistakes like wrapping a cord around an antique and original bell to the Birdcage Theater in Tombstone, Arizona. (Paula was pretty pissed about it.) ... or was that Bryan's mistake? They seemed to be very generous about making sure they pointed out his misgivings-- a feat that's akin to finding a needle in a stack of needles. ... but who are we kidding here. GH has always been in it for the drama. I don't know much about Jane other than she has a lot of character flaws... but that whole beratement where she cried and left the room-- that HAPPENS. Women need to be coached differently from men... I wouldn't think that if I hadn't experienced the differences myself. In high school, my varsity basketball coach (we'll call him Coach 1.) was dying from stomach cancer and the men's varsity basketball coach (we'll call him Coach 2) switched over to assist coach. Coach 1 had coached women for about 15-20 years... and he knew that you'd get a better response from girls if you made jokes about things and talked calmly. Coach 2 did the Men's coaching method... which involved a loud, obnoxious beratement of the "offender" in front of the whole team. Coach 2 would frustrate the team so badly everyone would shut down and start playing terribly. Women take crit' to heart. They take criticism extremely literal. So, as much as I think Jane is a tool, I think her crying was appropriate-- Steve and Tango really did rip into her.... and, yeah, she was a little overly emotional... but that probably would have made me cry too. I just wouldn't have been so open about it with everyone else by walking away. It was poor tact... and I think it was done to generate drama. ... and I think that this show is just GH's last hurrah to keep Steve and Dave employed now that Ghost Hunters has moved over-seas. |

RE: Ghost Hunter Academy
I am not 100% sure that Jane was not a production company 'plant' to breath a little bit of conflict into the show.
