RE: Creationism
![]() You dont just read the Bible like it was some book, you study the Bible. No one can determine that the earth is a million years old, scientist do not have machines that can deduct that far back. I have a friend who is a Scientist, and his words" the farthest we can actually date back is roughly 10,000 years. He told me a story one time, I hope I can remember it right, This scientist finds a fossil , and when asked how old it is,he says I believe it's a million years old, when asked why a million years old, he says that's what the rock expert told me,where I dug the fossil up, that the rock/limestone(whatever it was) was a million years old,so that means the fossil is a million years old. So this fella goes and hunts down the rock expert and asks him how he knows the ground where the fossil came from is a million years old,the Rock expert says, the guy who dug the fossil up said the fossil is a million years old,so if the foissil is that old, then this ground must be to. |

RE: Creationism
Yes we disagree. I have studied the Bible very in depth for a long time and have studied the original languages as well.
True no one knows how old the Earth is but it is definitely not less than 7,000 years as many fundamentalists believe and teach. By the way have you ever heard of carbon dating? True you cant date a stone but there are many other things that have been dated using this method. The entire question of "how old is the Earth" and the approximately 7,000 years supposedly shown by the Bible is a major stumbling block for a lot of people. They think the Bible says the earth is less than 7k and when science shows it to be much older they just assume that the Bible is wrong. I am suggesting that there is no discrepancy and that the words in Genesis 1 have just not been understood by the majority of theologians. ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

RE: Creationism
Science also says we come from blops that flipped flopped outta the water and turned into monkeys
I'm not saying science is wrong all the time, but when it comes to God and Creation, then I say they are wrong

(11-06-2009 12:17 PM)Dr.Teufel Geist Wrote: Science also says we come from blops that flipped flopped outta the water and turned into monkeys Actually it doesnt. It says that we had common ancestors with the "monkeys" not that we evolved from them. Anyway that is what is called a theory. Radio-carbon dating is not a theory. ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

RE: Creationism
well then they changed their minds, cause before they said we crawled out of the water as some little guppy blop.
that's what either discovery or science channel said, I saw it for just a second and turned it ![]() God and the Bible isnt a theory either, it's a fact.

RE: Creationism
Saying that "we crawled out of the water as some little guppy blop" is not the same thing as saying we evolved from monkeys. Words......
And as I said that is only one theory. In my personal belief God is a fact BUT it is not possible for God to be what is known as a "scientific fact" because that is only things that can be proven 100% to be true. Science holds much more theories than facts, that is the nature of science. Science does not know how we got here or how the earth was formed - they only have theories. ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

RE: Creationism
![]() if they did, then they would have the answers to their questions, but they have no faith, so they are blind to the truth. ya know this is a neverending ping pong match, right?

RE: Creationism
Yes, if only some people could realize what science actually is and its limitations. Science is not faith based at all, not even a little bit. Science is not the answer to all things, but it does have its place and it is very valuable to us and to our way of life.
Also science is not a person who can understand or read anything, science is a methodology. Now, if you want to talk about scientists - those are just human beings trying to make sense of things by using scientific methods. They disagree with one another more than they agree and many of them do believe in the paranormal and God. ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

Hey, Doc. Have you read Angels and Demons, by Dan Browne?
