RE: Make cashiers make mistakes
I think one of these people came through my line once when I was a cashier........................
"When you feel like a toad on the highway of life... and everyone seems like a steel-belted radial... when you're lyin' there squished in an assortment of bodily fluids... at least you left your mark." ~Arnie Dogan, "The Red Green Show" |

Whenever i hand a cashier money to pay for my items, i've already added and subtracted and know my exact change by the time they hand it to me. "I'm extraordinarily patient provided i get my way in the end." -Margaret Thatcher "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." -Coco Chanel...

UNR....I have never heard of that before. I have had cashiers mess up with me before. Also...once as a cashier at Chick-Fil-A....I had someone con me out of $50 with one of those fast change transactions.

RE: Make cashiers make mistakes
I once got a 3 room tent at Walmart for $29. It was listed on sale for $129 but when it went through the scanner that's the price that rang up. I went to customer service and spoke with a manager to correct the mistake, and he said "Lady, the bar code shows this to be the correct price, we can't charge more than the inventory control price." I pointed out the sale ad that brought me to the store in the first place, showing the advertised price of $129, and mentioned the sign on the display was also $129. He shrugged and told me it was my lucky day.
I loaded my brand new camping gear in the car, then went back in and bought another $29 tent as a birthday gift for my son, waving at the manager as I left the store. My bad. What can I say? A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything. ~Friedrich Nietzsche Feel free to tell me what you need and I will tell you how to get by without it. ~Mom For the believer, both the evidence of science and the failure of science to explain the paranormal is all the proof they need. For the sceptic, no evidence no matter how scientific will ever be proof enough. ~John Zaffis |

Is this person aware when it is going to happen? If this person is not aware that it is going to happen, I would say it is the employee's simple mind! If they were aware it was going to occur, my opinion would be different. The reason I asked those questions, is because I was a Bank Officer in my mid-20's. Some of my tellers could not do a simple transaction if the customer was talking to them! They could not listen and count at the same time. It was, as if, their brain was overloaded. These tellers usually did not last long. Drove me crazy reconstructing their work. People are like stained-glass windows. RE: Make cashiers make mistakes
I was a cashier at a fast food restaurant many years ago. My register was typically off about two cents in any given month (even better than the manager's account). Then we hired some clown that was simply dishonest. He would open another person's drawer, take a small sum of money and put it into yet another persons drawer. The entire crew knew what he was doing. Ultimately, he resorted to stealing money from one drawer or another. He stole something in my locker. I let others know that I would be waiting for him to come off of the shift, and I was going to pulverize him. He put the class ring back, and decided to keep my pocket knife..., he also quit and disappeared quickly. My anger was appeased, so I chose to forget the knife.
I'll never forget one little girl that fooled me. She placed an order and waited a minute for the food to be prepared. When I took her money, and gave her change, she claimed to have given me a larger denomination bill than what I thought. Her behavior was odd. I made a bad decision and chose to trust her. Before the shift was over, I explained to my manager what happened. I knew I was duped. She got me for about ten dollars. I think her parents or some other adults put her up to it. I concluded that her behavior was odd because she was afraid and maybe ashamed of what she was being forced to do. Her own sense of self-esteem was being sold for five dollars here or ten dollars there. ![]() (02-22-2012 06:04 PM)jeff Wrote: I was a cashier at a fast food restaurant many years ago. As a cashier, I would take the customers money and place it on the register drawer. I then took change out of the register, counting upward from the cost of the purchase, stopping on the amount of money laying on the drawer. It is almost fool proof, excepting things like young children testing my trust. I hate to belive young children could be so dishonest. I once ran into a adult cashier that purposely rang up an item I didn't purchase. Oddly, something like an expensive tent. I figured out what happened quickly, returned to the store, and she was gone. She nearly got me for about eighty dollars. Store managers caught her. I don't despise people for doing things like this. I don't know what hardships they might be living under. If she had the decency and honesty to simply talk to me, I might have even offered her money in return for nothing. ![]() (09-21-2009 05:15 PM)The Warrior Wrote: UNR....I have never heard of that before.
