Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
Sponsor Messages Wikipedia Wrote:Cayce's methods involved lying down and entering into what appeared to be a trance or sleep state, usually at the request of a subject who was seeking help with health or other personal problems (subjects were not usually present). The subject's questions would then be given to Cayce, and Cayce would proceed with a reading. At first these readings dealt primarily with the physical health of the individual (physical readings); later readings on past lives, business advice, dream interpretation, and mental or spiritual health were also given. If you read the complete Wikipedia article you will see that he has been attributed with a lot of amazing accomplishments and ideas. Do you think Cayce was "real" if not why? ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
He was featured once in a documentary about psychics and there were film footage of him, I got the impression that he indeed had a gift. His gift was sought after by many and the poor man suffered health problems from trying to help everyone that asked. He didn't get rich off of his abilities. I said else where on this forum that prophecy was a gift for some people and I think he was one of the rare breed.
Characters Environments He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever. (Chinese Proverb) |

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
I would recommend reading Thomas Sugrue's "There Is A River" which details much of Cayce's life and works. "When you feel like a toad on the highway of life... and everyone seems like a steel-belted radial... when you're lyin' there squished in an assortment of bodily fluids... at least you left your mark." ~Arnie Dogan, "The Red Green Show" |

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
I have read There Is A River, it is a really good read and intro to Cayce.
If you believe that Cayce was "real" then you will seriously consider the possibility of reincarnation as he talked about that quite a lot. He also said that Atlantis was a real place and that the Sphinx and great pyramids were much older than assumed. ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
I agree with Pitch... I think the guy was the real deal. All the things I ever read about him never lead me to think he wasnt. He didnt get rich heck there were times they went without cause he didnt believe in charging people. Now if he was a fake like most it would have been $19.95 for half hour
Seriously though I think he was the real thing. |

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
you can learn a lot about yourself and your sourroundings buy lucid dreaming. but you have to loose your self totaly to this target even in your awaking time. so it`s really hard to do it day after day as alife style espcially if you live in the big city.

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
I am just getting into Cayce. Fascinating man. Haven't read a book yet-just online stuff. I'm asking for a ton of his books for Christmas.I just love the idea of the silver thread, and my family believes Bimini Road may have been where Atlantis existed once. And his approach to healing rocked!!!

The notion of picking one time of the year to be decent to other people is obscene because it's actually validating the notion of being miserable wretches the rest of the year. |

RE: Edgar Cayce - What do you think?
Ok, I was an avid Cayce fan back in the 1980's. My mom turned me on to him. I wanted to believe all that was said. I too have "visions" , they happen in the waking state and in the dream state. Fine. The problem with "visions" is that I find that you can never seem to get the timing right. So by saying such and such will happen at such and such time is impossible. I will see something and have it occur 20 minutes later. But I also saw in a dream in the 1970's , of a massive earthquake for ILL. that turned Chicago into the city of the dead. It will happen when there are spring like weather conditions. Note that I said "spring like". We have had Decembers where it was 70 degrees out and roses were blooming ! I didn't see a year, or date. But I do believe that this will manifest, the question is when. Are we prepared ? Hell NO.
It is true, you can babble off a mutitude of predictions, you stand a 5-0/50 chance of at least a few coming true. The Cayce group make alot of money off his "records", so it behoves them to keep him alive and well. The one that really gets me is Helena Blavatsky. She was a fraud from the word go. She divines a buried teacup ! Give me a break. She probably had someone put it there before hand , and she "found" it to impress the local aristocrats, who had position and money. Which she wanted to be a part of. There are many others, out for their own personal fame and greed. As for Ms. Dixon, well you have the election in a zero year routine, so why not make a claim about an assassination ? The 50/50 rule applies here. If she gets it right, then she's an overnight success, cha-ching ! She simply lucked out, that's all, and it paid off handsomely. If I may say so myself. Are psychics real ? Yes there are many who can see things that occur. It is also true that many use "other" more dubious methods to "divine" things, such as body language, birth date, etc. For myself, I really wanted to help find missing people, be one of those psychics that find somebody or solve a crime. Alas it was not to be. When I wasn't looking for the answer, it came readily. When I went looking for the answer, I was so far off, it made me look like a complete butt ! For instance, Susan Smith was on the tv doing her blubber thing about her 2 boys. I knew instantly what she had done and that the boys were in water. But trying to help locate a missing child in Florida, I was so far off the mark, it was ridiculous. So I have decided that this is not what I am supposed to be doing. But Cayce will have his faithful followers, as does Nostradamus, along with Mother Shipton. Especially in these times of trial, as we have now. People will reach out for an explaination, to ease their fears and doubts. It's a normal human reaction. It would be nice to find Atlantis in my lifetime. Open up the Hall of Records that is beneath the paws of the Sphinx. It's not what they are expecting however. They are expecting to hopefully find written documents on parchment. It is not, it will take a solar and a lunar astrologer to decipher the encripted codes written on the walls. It is not in hyroglphics either. Ah well, maybe it was all just a dream. LOL. Except this occurred during prayers, and I was not looking for it. Well, right or wrong, it doesn't really matter. There will always be those ready to cry foul. No matter who you are. The earthquake for ILL ? In the 1970's New Madrid was never heard of. I didn't come across it myself until the 1990's. Now with the Haiti quake, earthquakes are widely discussed. It's big news. More people are on the watch for it. So someone makes a prediction, the 50/50 rule applies. Now aside from Dannion Brinkley's " fabrications" of military service, many of the "things" he saw rang true for me. His timing is way off, but that's typical. But Cayce is a good read, and he gives hope to some. I don't think any one person has all the answers. But a group of like minded people may be able to put together a pattern of visions that make sense and come true. The mind is a very powerful tool that most of us hardly use. |
