Has anyone ever been there?

I visited the battlefield many times. Supposed to be haunted. I never had a so called experience there but you can feel the energy a kind of feeling I have never experienced anyplace else. It has a real mystical feeling to it. I find it amazingly peaceful actually. I am one of those odd people that feels relaxed in cemeteries. It seems like there is always fog there and never over the area uniformly. I find that odd. I been there a dozen times and always experienced a calm fog. I just find that an odd observation but its probably nothing

Icontexto-emoticons-09-032x032Been there about every year since I was 7, in 1952. Family members fought there for the "South", N.C. Haunted, you bet! Visible "sights", "sounds", being touched, etc. Not just on the battlefield but in the town also. If anyone goes there for a week and doesn't see something "unexplained", let me know.

Funny to come across a thread like this when I just joined. I was just in gettysburg for 5 days last week with my gf. It was my first visit and her 3rd. What a great place. I can relate to the feeling you describe. It has an incredible energy. You can almost feel what hapenned there all those years ago. I guess some of the pictures I took brought me here. I have what we believe to be orbs in some of my after dusk pics from Sachs bridge in gettysburg. I would post one but I just joined, I dont see a option to download a pic off my computer. If I find it ill return and post one

I also feel so peaceful when I am there. Lots and lost of fog and mists. feels so tranquiel. Does not matter what time of day you are there you will always see fogs and mists 24/7 . I am from PA. I was just looking at pics from when I went on school trips and trips with my dad and all I see in my pics is fog and more fog. I just love it

Any trip to Gettysburg, especially the battlefield, if you can get in after dark and not be seen, is simply fantastic to see "things", not that "paranormal" events, encounters, views of, won't happen durin' the day because they will. It can he hard a times, to tell the Reenactors for "something" that seems "real" but if you are lucky enough to have a face-to-face with "someone" that might seem a tad odd, talk with them and if so inclined, they might talk back. Simple question to "something" you might feel a little uneasy about, is ask them "who is the President" and "what year is it"? You might be surprised.

Love Gettysburg. It has the best battlefield of all the American Civil War sites that I've visited. I have to say that I deeply enjoy the park. It gives off a sort of quiet reverence when you're away from the town.... and even in town, there's something ethereal about the place. I've been there twice-- once in 1999, once in 2005. Had an odd experience at the Devil's Den... Should have been posted somewhere in the forum archives. (I'm too lazy to re-type.)

I love the Ghosts of Gettysburg walking tour. Nesbitt writes a good yarn too-- I have most of the Ghosts of Gettysburg books, which tell of some of the haunting experiences around the battlefield.

Really glad they managed to vote down the construction of a Casino/betting track on the battlefield. That would have been tragic!

So many really great stories associated with that battlefield. You could read about it for years, and still find more stories.
