RE: Do Ghosts Really Exist?
What about when Samuel (I think it was) went to a witch and with her help he talked to the dead? Cant recall which book it was in but I am sure you recall the story.

Also when Jesus came back from the grave some thought he was a ghost. Jesus didnt say anything like "Hey ya dummies there aint no such thing as ghosts!" instead he said something like ghosts have not flesh and bones like you see me have. There are a lot of other places in the Bible where it seems obvious that those people did at least believe in ghosts.

RE: Do Ghosts Really Exist?
That was in the book of 1-Samuel ch 28.

Saul had a medium to summon Samuel, Samuel admonishes Saul for disturbing him.

Then there's the manifestation of Moses and Elijah with Jesus just before the crucifixion.

Also, as Christ dies on the cross, it is reported that the graves opened, and the dead walked the earth. There's your zombies. Blueoh

So, maybe, there is evidence of the dead as ghosts. I think those that die peacefully, do sleep until the resurrection. Something to ponder seriously.

RE: Do Ghosts Really Exist?
What a strange article. I think they are trying to raise a a typical false-flag argument. Take a false premise and prove it is false ... well done Dr Owen! But they actually managed to create totally weird results that are unexplained!! I think this is worth extra research.

But the way the article is presented, it seems they are trying to debunk ghosts.

Notice how they take care to mention little details like "the Owen group, consisted of Dr. Owen's wife, a woman who was the former chairperson of MENSA (an organization for high-IQ people), an industrial designer, an accountant, a housewife, a bookkeeper and a sociology student. A psychologist named Dr. Joel Whitton also attended many of the group's sessions as an observer."

Most people have heard of MENSA, and so equate that with "clever" people, thereby subliminally influencing the reader in the first paragraph to assume correctness from these people.

The article states "Although he could accurately answer questions about events and people of his time period, it did not appear to be information that the group was unaware of. In other words, Philip's responses were coming from their subconscious - their own minds."

They state that Philips responses were "therefore ..." as a fact, not a suggestion. This is immediately after it mentiones other unexplained phenomena at the experiments, such as table-rapping and even the table dancing on one leg, and make it sound like a circus show! It offers no explaination for the telekenesis, nor does it even address the weirdness of this, until it has already put the message out that this is "all in their minds". Once some people have heard this bit, they are less influenced by the reports of telekentic activity that are unexplained.

The end of the article even then states that there was no final conclusion about the telekenetic experiences created by the experiments. At least it does state that there are mysteries remaining, but it has already planted the seeds of doubt wrapped up as science.

But this certainly doesn't debunk ghosts for me (I don't believe in them anyway). It does raise questions about combined will and power of concentration, power of the mind, perhaps even subconscious powers that can be opened in people without them really knowing about it, or being consciously aware of what they are doing.

There's no scientific proof that ghosts are real, but there's no scientific proof that ghosts aren't real.not to my knowledge anyways.

RE: Do Ghosts Really Exist?
Yep they do. Based on years of investigating on my own, groups are not my way of getting the job done, I can swear to you that they do. I could go into a long, drawn out history of variouus examples of my run-ins with them, day and night, but I see no need in it as I hate to type and my spelling leaves much to be desired. Just take my word for it. If you choose not to, that's your choice.

The notion of picking one time of the year to be decent to other people is obscene because it's actually validating the notion of being miserable wretches the rest of the year.

RE: Do Ghosts Really Exist?
Just from my childhood living on an Indian Reservation,
where there are a multitude of spirits lingering everywhere,
& from my experiences as a child living in a "haunted" house,
I'd like to say yes they do exist.
But the more I read articles like the one presented by Bracket,
the more I begin to doubt. I've always doubted everything else,
but since spirits & ghosts on the Reservation seemed so real
to everyone I've always leaned toward believing in them more
than anything else..but I don't know these days.

RE: Do Ghosts Really Exist?
I hate to sound like a broken record but I'll still state my point of view by yes they do and I have encountered what I consider a "ghost" or at least "paranormal activity was taking place. Sometimes to see full body apparitions are nice to see but a floating toaster can be just as intesting.

I never saw anyone claim that they had proof.

By the very definition of the word proof it would be impossible to prove anything that cant be measured, recorded, and poked. You cannot prove or disprove, God, ghosts, the existence of the soul, etc etc .One cannot even prove that dreams actually happen!
