An Interesting Conversation
Sponsor Messages Basically it is an idea of protecting yourself from someone who envies or is jealous of you and almost wishes you harm. She explained it as say....you and a friend both fall in love with the same dress...but only you can afford it. Your friend loves you but is envious of your dress and wishes it harm...say it gets burnt or perhaps shrinks....something evil. The friend is not really the evil one....it is the little devils around that are causing these thoughts. The evil eye protector is for that. She said you can trick the devils by saying things like....oh what a horrid dress. Or if a new baby is born and is beautiful...you say what an ugly baby to trick the evil eye. She said you see this in other cultures...like in India where the little glass circles you see on purses or on skirts...is because if someone wishes you harm the wish is reflected back at the person who wished it...so they only harm themselves by wishing you harm. I ask her about protection from demons....as I still need to protect my vehicles. She told me about hanging bells because it reminds demons of church bells. She said not to cross over to much away from my inner beliefs because these are only mere objects. You...the believer is what gives the object the power. Although she said a gift of protection (a talisman) given to someone is more powerful...because it is given to you. As I was checking out she gave me 4 bells and a cross...for protection. It was nice. She then said I might also have a house spirit as well. Like there are tree spirits or wind spirits. They are not gods...just spirits. She said a house spirit can be quite a prankster. She said they are little beings....that like to act big. She said if I feed it...then it will protect my property. It was an interesting day. I left wondering...what do you feed it? http://www.myspace.com/addictionmatters ![]() "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Ephesians 6:11 |

RE: An Interesting Conversation
Loved it. It must have really been fascinating to talk with this person. I bet you go there again soon. I think I will try to check it out myself the next time I am over by Lex.
"You...the believer is what gives the object the power." I think this is Very important and very true. ~ Questioning the answers is much more important than answering the questions ~

What was the sizes of the glass pieces? Were they clear glass? And how would you know what to feed the little guys, never less what are they? If they were good guys, I would want to give them their favorite treat. People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within. ~Elisabeth Kübler-Ross |

RE: An Interesting Conversation
Caretaker....it was a breath of fresh air. Her shop used to be located on Southland Drive and had a cafe within the boutique. Now...downtown....the cafe is beside the restaurant. The cafe is Russian...you pay by the pound....very ethnic and unique. The boutique might now be named the Props Gallery...but it is still owned by Natasha. (It was split into Natasha's Cafe and The Prop's Gallery ...aka Natasha's boutique). She's a very interesting woman....and yes I will be back. The atmosphere is unique and peaceful. Yes I thought the person giving something belief says it all. I think its really why you can't prove anything to anyone who is not willing to believe. Let me know when you are going and I will give you the address if you need it.
Unfortunately we could not replace our African drum that was a double drum covered with animal skin. She said that was a unique, hard to find item. She also had some interesting looking daggers. http://www.myspace.com/addictionmatters ![]() "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." I agree, Caretaker.....nothing can be done without the power of belief. I'm not sure what she meant by "feeding it"....maybe the positive energy that is now around your family will be what the spirits need to protect your house.
It sounds like a really cool place! "When you feel like a toad on the highway of life... and everyone seems like a steel-belted radial... when you're lyin' there squished in an assortment of bodily fluids... at least you left your mark." ~Arnie Dogan, "The Red Green Show" |

[img] [/img]I think I need to make a trip back to ask that very question. I couldn't help but to think of the movie..."The Spiderwick Chronicles"..... I think that little fellow liked honey. http://www.myspace.com/addictionmatters ![]() "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Ephesians 6:11 |

It probably would be a good idea to ask her what she meant by that..........and the glass piece is beautiful.

RE: An Interesting Conversation
In case you all don't know...I have this wierd fasination of eyes....and I immediately noticed this one. She showed me some jewelry that had that as well. Her shop has rain sticks, all kinds of crystal gemstone jewelry from Nepal, face molds in leather....oh and I forgot about that story.
She described this one mold that was "haunting" so to speak. These leather pieces came from Columbia...and she said there was this one mold - about an entire wall size of molded human faces into this huge piece of leather. She said she didn't buy it because she knew no one would buy it...even she herself wouldn't want the piece in her own home...as you would be viewing real faces that were not alive....too haunting she said. She had a single face mold...it was hard not to keep looking at it...but it was creepy as well. http://www.myspace.com/addictionmatters ![]() "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
