Sleep Paralysis- why does it happen?

Sponsor Messages
A few months ago, I had something that I think might be sleep paralysis. I had gone to bed really early that night. In the middle of the night, I woke up to the door opening. I couldn't really make out who was standing there, but I figured it was my mom. The figure came towards me a little bit, and I tried to cry out to them but couldn't. My body felt heavy and I struggled for several seconds to move until everything went black. I woke up the next morning and I was fine. Any ideas as to what this was? Sleep paralysis?

You can actually read quite a bit about sleep paralysis here in the forum. Here are some place where you can read more about sleep paralysis:

I've had sleep paralysis many times and see nothing paranormal about it. Me and CT have had conversations about this.

RE: Sleep Paralysis- why does it happen?
I too have had sleep paralysis. I wasn't sure at first that it was sleep paralysis because I kept thinking it should be paranormal. I honestly thought my body was so tired that it didn't care how much my mind wanted to take over. I guess I think this because it has never happened when I truly needed to wake up....and it has never happened when I've been attacked in my dreams by demons.
