Your opinion on psychics

RE: Your opinion on psychics
There is one thing my grandfather always said about psychic abilities and I think it was true in so many ways.

He said that the reason we shouldn't know about the future because if anyone could see their entire life in a second it would be so overwhelming that they would commit suicide. With everything I have been through, I can agree.

However, there are times that psychics can be very exact....maybe this is the question: Can a psychic see his or her own future?

I would have to say probably not. Smart Grandpa.

I don't know why knowing is so important when we should all just sit back and enjoy life's journey. Embrace what ever ups and downs come our way. It is these times that shape our souls and what impact we leave on others.

RE: Your opinion on psychics
It all comes down to if Psychics were real then the government and FBI would employ the good ones. We wouldn't have any missing people, unsolved murders, we could prevent disasters, prevent wars.

If you research you will see police agencys don't want them involved in investigations, but the psychics prey upon the family and this forces the police to waste manpower and money to use them. Then if the case is solved the psychic uses shotgun reasoning to try and say they helped.

Now we have all heard of the Fake Uri Geller, he just released a statement he see's that stress is what killed Michael Jackson. Ya think? He owed 171 million dollars, he was being forced to do a concert tour for 50 million. He is labeled a pedophile by a large number of people. I think anyone with common sense could see that.

Now we have all the Psychics coming forward claiming they predicted Michaels death. One did predict health problems and that he would be hospitalized with lung problems. Now he is claiming he was accurate.

When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence.

RE: Your opinion on psychics
While I personally feel that most mediums/sensitives/psychics are full of fecal matter... I think that there is some truth to the field or, otherwise, it wouldn't exist to a certain extent.

If an investigation were to include "psychics", I'd prefer they use the Lost Souls Investigation Methodology:

http://lostsouls.htdoctor.com/methodology.shtml
(Granted, it's OLD information...)
Quote:Controlled Field-Investigation Technique for a "Haunting"

To investigate in the field, or rather at homes and at places of business, one has in the past been limited to the data that could be brought back and analyzed in a laboratory setting. This can create problems concerning outside interference and the contaminating factors one can face outside the laboratory setting. This methodology is the most controlled field investigation technique developed to date. With the data received from use of this particular method, one can have an abundant quantity of relevant and untainted data to analyze.
Investigation Methodology:

The Investigator should employ three Sensitives: one Psychic and two Mediums. These Psychics and Mediums must have been tested and have proven that they possess some type of anomalous talents, which heretofore cannot be otherwise explained. The Investigator should not disclose the location to those who are being employed to perform the investigation; doing so would jeopardize the investigation, as the Sensitives could then discover information about the site prior to the investigation. In addition, no others, including the camera operator or even the Investigators themselves, may know of or be exposed to any information regarding the site, as even they may indirectly expose the Sensitives to such information, either directly or possibly by telepathy.

The Sensitives should be notified two weeks prior to the investigation date and told to limit and/or abstain from watching TV or movies, or reading books, magazines, or newspapers of any sort. If the Sensitives do expose themselves to any such media, they must keep a log of when and with what materials they violated this order. The reason for this being that the information a Sensitive receives during the investigation may be influenced by a plot or story line seen in a movie or television program, or read in a book or other printed media. It is therefore important that the Investigator study the information and look for correlations between a Sensitive's "hits" and any outside influences that may have subconsciously affected a "hit". They must supply this information to the Investigator upon arrival at the site.

The Sensitives are also told that they may not, under any circumstances, drink any alcoholic beverages forty-eight hours before the investigation, and they are not allowed to consume any other mind-altering substances for seventy-two hours before the investigation. Alcohol and other mind-altering drugs may influence a Sensitive's energy level and impede them from receiving valid information.

One week before the investigation date, the Sensitives are contacted and told the time of their departure for the site and the estimated time of their return. They are told whom their Monitor is going to be. They are not given any other information. The Investigator will schedule the Sensitives' departure and arrival times, two to three hours apart, in order to eliminate any contact between them.

The Sensitives will each be assigned a Monitor. This person will drive the Sensitive assigned to them both to and from the site, and they will stay with the Sensitive for the entire length of the investigation. This is to eliminate any need to have outside contact with anyone else during the time of the investigation and to create as much of a controlled atmosphere as possible. The Sensitive will therefore have no contact with any person who could influence any information that the Sensitive may receive during the walkthrough. The Sensitive will have all of their needs met by the Monitor who will only speak to the Sensitive to whom they are assigned, as well as to the Coordinator of the investigation. The Monitor, who is aware of the date of the investigation, will be contacted thirty minutes before their departure time and given the information regarding the Sensitive assigned to them and simple directions to the site. If the site is out-of-state, they are told to pick up the Sensitive and meet the Coordinator at the airport, where the Monitor will be given the information regarding the travel destination only, and not the site itself. The Monitors are to keep all information regarding the directions to themselves and they are to make sure that no Sensitives talk to each other or anyone else during the time of the investigation. The Monitors will stay with the Sensitive to whom they are assigned at all times except for the actual walkthrough.

Upon arrival, each individual Sensitive will be placed with their assigned Monitor in a room and will be isolated from the preliminary investigation process, as well as from any other Sensitives present at the site. The Sensitives will perform anti-telepathy exercises, such as crossword puzzles, during the entire investigation procedure, excluding their individual walkthroughs.

The Equipment person(s) should arrive at the site at least two hours before the Sensitives begin to arrive. Upon arrival, the Equipment person is to note the date, weather and any GMF activity at the present time. The Equipment person performs five-point readings with the EMF, GMF and ion detector. The person will draw a diagram of the entire location, separating the diagram by floors. The Equipment person will then take EMF, GMF and ion readings at each of the four corners of the particular floor as well as at the approximate center. The Equipment person keeps a running log of this information. They also then takes secondary readings during each individual walkthrough, as well as after the walkthroughs are completed. This is to determine if, in fact, any shifting energy phenomenon occurs during the walkthroughs. They will then set up all instruments in the room where the Sensitives will spend the night.
The instruments in this room are:

* standing EMF, GMF and ion detector(s)
* temperature gauge
* compass
* Automatic Voice Recorder
* motion detectors
* talking alarm clock that announces the hour
* video camera that is equipped with night vision
* at least three disposable cameras with 400 speed film
* infrared video camera.

They will note and log all settings at the time of initial setup, and then subsequently every two hours, they will take notes from a Monitor who is residing in the room. It is important to note that all equipment use must be visually catalogued at the time of its initial use, therefore eliminating any manipulation of the instruments or film.

The Coordinator, Interviewer, a Sensitive, and all Equipment personnel will perform each walkthrough. The Sensitive will be chosen at random, i.e. placing names in a bag and drawing them out one by one. The crew will then inform the first Sensitive's Monitor to ready their Sensitive. The Coordinator will then retrieve the Sensitive and escort them outside where the investigation will begin. The entire crew will then perform an external and internal walkthrough of the site. The Sensitive will be disclosing all interactions, visions and information received into a microphone that will be connected to a tape recorder. Photographs will also be taken. A video camera and infrared video camera will be running at all times, as well as night vision if applicable. During the walkthroughs, the Equipment person is responsible for maintaining the five point readings.

After all the walkthroughs have been completed, all Sensitives and one Monitor will retire to the instrument-equipped room for the night. They are not allowed to discuss among each other any information regarding their individual walkthroughs. All equipment listed above will then be activated in order to capture any unusual phenomena that may occur during the overnight stay. The Sensitives and Monitor cannot leave this room for any reason, in order to maintain a controlled atmosphere. The Monitor is responsible for maintaining all equipment. In the event of anomalous paranormal phenomena, the Monitor must record EMF, GMF and ion readings, as well as take still-photographs of the phenomena. If there is an emotional disturbance with a Sensitive during the night, the Monitor will contact the Coordinator, who will remove the Sensitive for a discussion session. In the event of a discussion session, it must be recorded by both video and audio equipment.

The next morning, there will be a taped debriefing. In the debriefing, all individuals are finally allowed to discuss their experiences. The Coordinator will then interview all residents or staff members of the site and give them psychological evaluations. All materials pertaining to the investigation are collected and sealed in an envelope until the data is processed. The Interviewer will then do all historical research for up to and not more than two weeks after the date of the investigation. Finally, a written conclusion will be drawn up pertaining to all data collected during investigation and highlighting any correlations.
Viable correlations are:

* correlations among Sensitives
* correlations between Sensitives and historical research
* correlations among unusual readings from the EMF, GMF and ion detector(s)
* correlations between unusual readings from EMF, GMF and ion detector(s) and Sensitives
* correlations between Sensitives and infrared recordings
* correlations between Sensitives and any external influences (e.g., movies, books, etc.)
* correlations between unusual paranormal phenomena and the site's residents or staff (e.g., psychokinetic activity)
* correlations between specific locations and "hits" or "hot spots" where information is received by the Sensitive(s).

A conclusion will then be drawn from the above data.

RE: Your opinion on psychics
My opinion is that we are all psychic, we are all connected in a singular consciousness that binds us all, like a massive neural network. For proof of this just look at people making the same dicoveries all over the world at around the same time. Experiements have been conducted on certain species of animals to prove this.

I believe that the purer in mind, body and spirit you are the more sensitive you are to this power. I strongly suspect that most psychics are aware of this and simply exploit it to make a living, of-course I am aware that many don't. We have all known what the other guy was going to say before he said it, or had a dream that came true (I have them every night). Just my opinion, I know many won't agree.

RE: Your opinion on psychics
Chris,

I actually do believe that every person has the ability to tap in the energy of God, but if not used that ability deminshes. Think of how many children say they see ghosts or "invisible friends" only to have there parents tell them its not real. After awhile they believe their parents or just block it out for approval purposes...and eventually this ability deminshes. You can get it back through prayer, faith and meditation. I think that many people are afraid of tapping into this energy field as "it is against God" so to speak. My personal opinion is that God didn't want the masses of people tapping into this energy because this is the same energy used by Satan/fallen angels and it could be dangerous. Know this is not saying that everyone who taps into this energy is going against God. Actually I think certain people have been given permission to do so. I also think the way you use thes abilities/gifts determines wheter it is good or bad. Are you helping others or twisting your talents to meet your own self gratifications? I also believe that you tap into evil energy just as well...which is the same but opposite.

RE: Your opinion on psychics
No offense guys but i think you're getting away from the question. It's not about if you believe in psychics but if you would trust one to give you true information.

In other words, would you bet your money on it.

RE: Your opinion on psychics
Sorry...it's easy to get lost sometimes....actually for me it's alot because I am directly challenged. LOL

Seriously though...no I wouldn't bet my money on it unless I knew the psychic really well and knew they had a history of being right in what they sensed. However, since I don't know any psychic that well then No.

Yeah, sorry from me to. We have some psychics here in the UK like Derek ankorah who are just clearly out to make money, if your using this amazing gift surely it should be a free thing, not something to take advantage of. Sure, we all need to make money to live but I don't think it should be from this.

So, in short, hell NO. lol

RE: Your opinion on psychics
I recently joined a paranormal investigative team that was actually founded by a clairvoyant. Almost half the team claim they are sensitive to the paranormal, so basicaly, the group is run by mediums. With these people, I have seen and heard the most compelling evidence of the paranormal, so as an investigator, things are always exciting. The only conflict that I have is when they feel or see a 'presence', they don't need further evidence to convince themselves of a haunting. I, on the other hand, do, for I don't posses this gift. I would say yes, use a medium as a tool for investigations, just don't base your entire case on what they may 'see' or 'hear'.
