Dogs buried with humans
Sponsor Messages I've heard of it being associated with dogs' roles as psychopomps-- that is, beings that help newly dead folks cross over to the other side. The custom of burying a dog and the skin of a favourite reindeer with a dead man was still current among Ugrian people of Siberia earlier this century, according to Chernetsove. And, of course, there are the church grims-- these perhaps derive from the belief that the first person to be buried in a churchyard would have to guard any subsequent inhumed souls. Baring-Gould put forward the belief that it was the custom to sacrifice a dog, specifically one without a single white hair, in the foundations of the church (http://www.indigogroup.co.uk/edge/bdogs.htm). Turn the light on in your spirit, and you will never fear again. -- Haunted Lady |

RE: Dogs buried with humans
I had heard of this before, but im not sure if i would want to be buried with my dog... i love him, but it just seems strange to me..
Pride and Fear always distort the truth into either a false sense of security or a lack of confidence and diminished self-worth.
