What is going on in the house?
Sponsor Messages To introduce myself I am a quite rational guy who haven't experienced much unexplainable stuff in my life. I've had a student job for years where I had to clean out estates of deceased persons, old churches, abandoned houses and so on and I've only had a one or two strange things happen to me when working. Now the reason why I signed up for this forum is because of my parents house where I believe too many odd scenes has taken place. We moved there when I was 6 and I lived there for 12 years before I moved out. It's a big house from the 1930's with both cellar, first floor, second floor and roof. The strange stuff didn't come to my attention till I was about 10 maybe but my grandpa and brother apparently experienced the front door being opened and closed again. My dad changed the lock as someone could have an old key for the house but it happened a few times after that as well. Then there was the footsteps on the second floor while having dinner, that was almost a common thing to hear something that sounded like someone shubbing something around. My dad just told me it was because it was an old house and that old houses did make some noise. So one day I'm home alone around the age of 15, I hear a chair being knocked over down in the kitchen and magazines falling down on the floor. I was saying something out loud like 'man, kitty gimme a break!' and when I get down the kitchen I can see that kitty is sitting outside the door waiting to come inside the house. Wow that was creepy. The occasionally strange sounds I got used to and thought it probably was because the house was old. The last and really messed up incident I experienced while living at home, and this still creeps me out, was a night I heard banging, stuff being moved around and someone stomping around downstairs. So I sneak out to the stairs where my mom, dad and sister is already there listening and my dad ask me to go with him downstairs. We sneak down the stairs, dad with a baseball bat in his hands, we get to the hallway and we can hear someone like blazing towards us around the corner and my dad turns on the light and yells out loud... but there's no one there, seriously nothing, everything stopped. I was there and there was nothing and everything stood where it was when we went to bed, nothing had been pushed around. Creepy house be creepy and I moved out at 18. I don't like being at my parents house today it creeps my out just being there. Last weekend they were on holiday and I had to feed their cat for two days, first day I'm there I hear someone whistling and the cat meows and runs to the living room. Needles to say I swiftly filled the food bowl and went the hell out of there. Now I just want an explanation, what the flipping hell is going on there? This is why I signed up here hoping you guys could tell me, cause I'm becoming a believer! |

RE: What is going on in the house?
First, welcome to the forum and glad you joined here! =) I don't know what happened in your home, but I can offer some suggestions. Weather stripping on a door can cause the lock to be mis-aligned, which can keep the latch from catching properly, so that might be something to consider. The incident in the kitchen could have simply been some magazines that got overstacked and fell to the ground, knocking the chair with it. I know I have had that happen with huge piles of papers. And sound travels, so maybe some of the natural sounds an old house makes appeared to be coming from somewhere else.
The last incident..I don't know. Again, sound does travel and there could have been banging going on because of pipes or an animal getting stuck in the walls. If loud enough, it could sound as though it were coming from all throughout the room. Does your father remember the incident and have you ever asked him what his take on it was? I debunked an experience I thought I had growing up by talking to others that were present and seeing that some of my perceptions of it had been altered in my memory. But please let me stress I am just trying to help you figure out what else it might have been. Thank you for sharing your experiences and I hope you find some answers. I always look to suggest what might need ruled out, but I do believe there are things that happen that don't have a ready explanation. I don't really theorize much about what something unexplainable might be because honestly..I just don't know. But I have found talking about it with others does help. RE: What is going on in the house?
You mentioned a couple of things happening while cleaning out estate properties...the common denominator in those locations in addition to your parents home, were that you were in all the places that you experienced activity. I am interested to know if anything strange ever happens in your own home...which could indicate mentally ill person kinetic phenomenon, meaning that you could be in fact causing the wierdness. Men between the ages of 15 and 25 are prime candidates for PK activity, so there is one possibility... Also the energy of a space can do strange things. I can only assume that your parents home doesn't get cleansed regularly. I don't mean cleaned...I am talking about energy cleansing. Energy is all around us, it accumulates over time retaining emotion and negativity building up into a kind of sludge in our living areas. Many people buy a home and have it blessed, in order to remove the old energies from families who have gone before...but it is just as important to reinforce this blessing once in awhile through cleansing. They are similar in that you are physically moving negative energies out of the home through use of sage or incense and most importantly through taking authority on the space. With the estate issues; the energy is not your responsibility, but the effects of a death can make heightened emotions linger....and you just happened to be there. If you still have access to your parents home and if they too are experiencing strange activity, a good paranormal investigations team could help you find some answers. That is of course, if answers are really what you are seeking. A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything. ~Friedrich Nietzsche Feel free to tell me what you need and I will tell you how to get by without it. ~Mom For the believer, both the evidence of science and the failure of science to explain the paranormal is all the proof they need. For the sceptic, no evidence no matter how scientific will ever be proof enough. ~John Zaffis |

RE: What is going on in the house?
Thanks for your replies! My dad won't even discuss it, he's very conservative when it comes to the unexplainable things we experienced. Around summer last year my sister actually brought it up and said they couldn't keep denying what we all experienced. Dad wouldn't really answer and mom just said that she agreed it was strange but that we should just leave it there. End of discussion. I agree with you that some or most of it could probably be explained and I didn't exactly see all of the stuff that happened so I can't be sure about anything. But what I did experience such at the incident with my dad, that I just can't rule out, I mean it was really loud as in how I would imagine it sound when a burglar just pull out drawers down on the floor to find the good stuff fast.
I've lived in four different apartments and never once have I had any incidents. If I hear or see anything strange I go to look at it and therefor I can debunk just about anything others might have found odd or out of the ordinary. I would definitely try the cleansing you're talking about but there's no way an alternative person will ever work their magic in my dad´s house! Would be nice to not feel like you're being watched all the time, I'm not the only one who's mentioned it, both my brother and sister and even one of my friends told me he felt watched and I've never told anything about it, didn't want to seem like an odd ball. |
