I was and down from the bed to the computer but no sleep for twentsome odd hours more than 24. It was late afternoon before I got the call about the pharmacy mix up, meds sent to wrong pharmacy. That I needed to help me fall asleep. Took the dose, but got up out of bed repeatedly. Restless. I was making myself a snack and getting on the computer, when all these people came forward to ask me questions, and I answered them but I don't have a clue what was said it was telepathic in nature. then I would get my focus back to snack, and they would come back with more questions, more people. even after a few short naps, they would come to me. I was dreaming on my feet.aware of what was around me, wit the dream happening in the circumstances I was in. What do you think?

What is the name of the medication, if you don't mind my asking? I ask this because there are many sleep meds that put people in this 'sleepwalking' state. If you don't want to share here, if I were you, I would google the side effects for the name of the meds. And yes, even skipping a night or two might cause a reaction.

I have only my experience to compare with your experience. I take a low dose, 10mg, of Zolpidem to help me stay asleep when I do sleep. As dosage goes, mine is very modest. Missing just the first day can put me off schedule. For my own sanity, I work very hard to stay on schedule. I've had hallucinations, and sometimes a loss of memory. I'm only guessing that my memory is being affected. I've made repeated attempts to get off the medication.

In the past, I used to work very long hours. I'd reach a point of exhaustion many times, only to be followed by an adrenaline rush that could last up to a day or two (or even three) without sleep. I wasn't on medication at that time. That is also why I need it. Working long hours and consequently getting an adrenaline rush to fuel even longer work hours would leave me a total wreck when I finally did slow down again.

A good friend of mine has told me many times about how important it is to sleep and wake on a fixed schedule. To me that meant "get used to using an alarm clock." Blueud

OMG. I did not know I posted this until I found it today. I take the 10 mg zolpidem, and got a different type of this med last time I got this refilled. I know all the side effects. I have been on here a year ago on the casual conversation thread. With the same effects from over twenty four hours of no sleep then taking this med. You both responded to this thread. And I kept posting as I was hallucinating. Yes, after so many hours of no sleep and taking this med I hallucinate. I also occasionally do things in my sleep that I don't remember. I am kind of embarressed because I knew what it was. No wonder people dont take my posts seriously. And I posted some personal info I didnt have to on a different thread. Must be awake when posting.
By the way, I knew I was hallucinating when the wall of teddy bears housemate has started moving. I went to bed at that point, but got back up again and it was worse. And my housemates had left me alone because they thought I would sleep.
I had realized that I only had one dose left on a friday, called it in and they called it in to their pharmacy, which I don't normally use. Took four phone calls, over four days, desperate ones before I got a response. And got the meds late afternoon that day. Jeez, to me not having them is an emergancy.

Just a word or two about a very strange hallucination. I woke up about 9:00 AM. I just laid still for a while. I'm still awake and looking around. I watched the form of a woman walking straight through the wall. She wore a white long sleeved top, and a long purple skirt that touched the floor. I avoided looking up at her face.

There were three or four more couples, dressed in late 19th century clothing walking in the hallway. I also avoided looking at their faces. And, I was still awake. I waited a while before getting out of bed. My first hallucination is one I'll long remember. MrteethBlueud

Hello there, a post from a ghost. I wanted to share that I've had insomnia since before I was twelve and I'm only a mere eighteen. I've taken alot of meds that sent me wonky when missing doses, medication that caused even more days without sleep that was supposed to help me sleep, and eventually the meds just simply don't work.

It's possible that since your body is always changing, so is your type of sleeping patterns. Has this happened to you before? Brain chemistry is a complicated thing to understand, especially when adding medication to the mix.

How long have you had insomnia? Any traumas? It's possible that insomnia can be induced by stress, trauma, not wanting to marry someone and etc. Like I said about brain chemistry... If your real problem is that, it's most like that what happened is your body telling you that your body has two different reactions... One, you either need the meds or two, it was a withdrawal process...

Any of this make sense? I lost my train of thought now.

Princess up there ^^^ isn't kidding either. The adults in the house used to sleep in shifts cause the kid wouldn't go to bed...ever. At one point the doctors had her on enough tranquilizers to knock at a horse and she's still awake for 3 or 4 days on end.

Of course, now that she's an adult we don't worry about her wonky sleep pattern as much, she's up all night and sleeps very comfortably during daylight hours. My mother has suffered from severe insomnia all of her life as well, she sleeps when she, can often in short naps.

I think the thing is that the rule of thumb on the need for sleep varies with each person, and some people are just pre-programmed through chemistry and heredity to be nocturnal.

We should open a suicide hotline here...someone is always awake, might as well field some calls.

The thing is though that lack of sleep for long periods can cause hallucinations, severe depression and essentially drive you mad. Don't fight what your body tells you it needs. If it says stay awake all night, work in a field where the need for overnight help is in demand. Dispatch for emergency services, nursing home aide...whatever interests you. There's an entire world going on 24/7 and there's lifestyle and sleep pattern you can groove with out there. I know if I need to call 911 at 3 in the morning, it's good to know there's someone there to answer the phone...and it's probably a fellow nightwalker.

I would like to hear from a Navy Seal, if there are any out there. These guys are known for surviving all sorts of conditions. Going for days without sleep is about all I know. These guys train for it to say the very least. I once had an uncle that served in Special Forces. I know even less about these guys. Icontexto-emoticons-07-032x032

I suffer from bad insomnia, i have trouble sleeping at all before 6am daily, it is currently 5:07am and this is completely normal for me to do, it does bug me however as when i do eventually fall asleep, i sleep until well into the afternoon and have very little energy during the daytime. I have taken medication that occasionally can help me (temazepam 10mg). It sucks bigstyle, i wish i had a more healthy sleeping routine.
