Photo of ghost at the Amityville House

I'm sure many of you have seen this photograph - it was supposedly taken at the real Amityville horror home, where allegedly a haunting took place. The picture was said to have been taken after the family moved out. Apparantly a paranormal investigation team set up a camera in the upstairs hallway, and the next day, when they checked back on the photographs, they found this ghostly boy peering into the camera...

I have read it's one of the few pictures that hasn't been "officially" debunked....?

What do you think? I'm not sure what I believe, but I always get creeped out looking at it!

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
Here has always been my biggest problem with that picture (because I won't go into my rant about the investigation itself). If it was a ghost..why do you see the shadow of the stair banister on it? Look closely at the shirt..you can see the shadow of the banister.

Eyeglasses could have made the eyes reflect like that. I am staying on the side of explainable on this one..it's a person. I don't know if it was an intentional fake or just a misperception from forgetting who all was there.

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
There are lots of other pictures floating around of one of the investigators in this same flannel shirt floating around. As so often happens when you don't document all movement within an investigations people forget and once again a blurry picture is presented as a ghost. Now the other question becomes was this picture set up and then the camera set wrong to create the blurr? Remember none of the participants are known as honest stand up people.

When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence.

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
I do remember reading that there was a person there that wore that shirt. The shadow on the shirt was one of the first things I noticed about it. Fiona, thanks for the acknowledgment. Usually I get ignored when I make that comment on other places I've seen it posted.

I remember seeing this picture in a Amityville house documentary, on the history channel I think. I agree with what the others have said. The shadow on the flannel shirt makes me think human.

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
So much of the Amityville story has been debunked.I can't think that any picture there is not some sort of fake.
Great story - good movie - real paranormal activity - Highly Unlikely.

The only wrong questions - are those that go unasked

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
Aw crap, I feel a rant coming on...everyone get out your hip boots!

Amityville was a huge obsession of mine for a long time. I read everything I could get my hands on when it came to the subject. I am not as hard on the Lutzes as I am others involved in that, but make no mistake..they got caught up in it. I think at some point, they had to, because it became their whole lives. Their marriage ended, although they stayed friends. They both died at young ages, in their fifties.

Do I think that is because of some Amityville "curse"? No. Do I think that the fact that Kathy Lutz was said to have looked years older than her age when she died means that the image she said she saw in the house of herself as an old woman was a premonition? No, I think she smoked very heavily most of her life and developed emphysema. This disease ages you incredibly, so it is not at all odd that she would have looked like that.

As far as the investigation, I was not there. I have listened to what everyone who was there had to say and what it boils down to is..nothing really happened at that investigation. There were some feelings of "heaviness" and discomfort, but many there said they felt nothing nor saw anything. It was in some of the people who were there's best interest to say that there was something evil there, and I cannot ignore that these are also people who have altered facts and history in other instances.

I know I have jumped completely off the subject of the picture, but I guess I am just surprised that even after all of these years...all of this time..and all that I have learned, I still feel compelled to check out an Amityville thread. (and of course to rant about it..sorry, Fiona!)
Let me add to that just because I am not as hard on the Lutzes as I am some of the others involved doesn't mean that I think they were innocent or that they were victims of manipulation. They were a young couple that I think got spooked by the home because it started getting to them what had happened there. I think that when Ron Defeo's lawyer showed up and they had the famous "bottles of wine" conversation, that it started a seed going that this could be something worth getting out there. And yes, I think they saw potential in making money. And I think at some point the lies had to keep coming to the point where they may have even convinced themselves some of the really dramatic stuff happened. But what it boiled down to was they sold a fake story, made a little over $300,000 altogether.....but the rest of their lives was about keeping to their story. Somehow I don't think it was worth it.

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
This comes up again and again, the investigators of the story, supposedly demonalogists, a couple, Said what wasn't in the story that wasn't adding up, to just make it up and make it big. Now you have fingers pointing in every direction, different stories from everybody and you simply can't get a hold on to what happened. The defoe boy who has been locked up, he has bought into this and says he is still possessed. Got videos recently taken with him and a psychic, I seen it last year. It was odd, and yea he seemed creepy but so did the interviewing pyschic. The Lutz's say money heading thier way and were coherced into telling the story. I guess everyone has an opinion on this. My adoptive mom read the first part of the book and dreampt the rest, She was a psychic. She had the opinion that it is all real. She was missing some important marbles thought too.

RE: Photo of ghost at the Amityville House
That picture doesn't even look remotely authentic...not that I am an expert....but I do posess a modicum of common sense....and that picture looks like a really really bad attempt at a hoax

As for the story itself, can't say for sure what I believe...haven't done enough in depth reading on it to form an opinion......but I do know of the couple who did the investigation.....as I've seen the woman on other programs.....and my general gut feelings on her are very positive, she seems authentic....this is just an intuition of course, as I've never met her...but I would dearly like to.
