Higher chance of Creature photography

One thing I have been considering lately related to sightings of mythical creatures such as Lochness Monster, Bigfoot etc. is: For decades thousands of people have claimed to have seen these creatures, some with a picture to substantiate their claim. Most of the pictures have turned out to have been fakes, but if a few were unexplainable there would be a ratio of unexplainable photos to thousands of sightings. For argument sake lets say for the past five decades there has been a ratio of one unexplainable photo for every one thousand sightings. Well if these creatures really exist then the ratio of unexplainable photos to one thousand sightings should have increased drastically in the past decade, due to the popularity of cell phone cameras. Granted the picture quality is usual poor, but the capability is still there. There has been no other era where such a high percentage of people have had the capability to take photos/video instantly in their pocket, for most people sixteen hours a day. Look at the cameras that were popular in the 1970s, they were bulky and not very easy to operate quickly. How many people carried these types of cameras with them every time they went to a area where these creatures were reported? There are thousands of reports from people claiming to have witnessed Bigfoot for several minutes, ample time to pull out a cell phone and take a video. I am speaking only of unexplainable photos though, due to some programs available I am sure there are a higher ratio of faked photos with the cell phone camera.

In conclusion it stands to reason that if the many reports of Mythical creature sightings each year are true there should be a greater number of photos/video claimed. Not that there are not some claimed photos taken with a cell phone of mythical creatures, but not near the ratio there should be if the creatures really exist.

RE: Higher chance of Creature photography
First I agree with you when you use statistics it makes sense.

Now I will say now that paranormal is popular the internet is flooded with poor photography trying to show ghosts, we also have all the fake photography, we now also have dozens of android camera ghost apps. So its just a matter of time before a cryptozoology app will pop up and suddenly everyone will catching them with their cell phone.

I thought I better check, there is a bigfoot app but not for a camera yet

When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence.

Key word...."yet".

John_M, that was very well said. Honestly can't add to it except to say I agree with the logical stand you have taken.
