Ghost that "Follow" you

So I've heard some people say, "Oh that ghost must have followed me," be it from an old house to a new one, to a hotel on vacation, etc. in the past. I know that none of us really know for sure, but what do you guys think. Can ghost really follow you?

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
I know there is really no way of knowing for certain, but as someone who does believe in spirits, I tend to believe they can move, or follow people. While many hauntings may be residual, meaning it's like a "memory caught on tape" type of phenomena, I believe there are spirits who actually visit specific places or people, and that they are not always confined by time, space or environment.

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
This is something that is kind of hard to answer because I'm finding more and more explanations for what has seemed paranormal. Here is my personal opinion on the matter. I think that there are people who, for whatever reason, are more prone to seeing what's on the other side. So when they move from place to place and continue seeing things (and all other explanations have been ruled out), it may not so much be that some thing "followed" them, but rather that the individual is simply more "in tune" to energies that might be present.

I also think that it isn't something that happens very often, if indeed it does at all. But I wouldn't be looking for answers if I didn't believe in the possibility.

Great topic Sweetneers! Look forward to others thoughts on it.

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
I had a massage therapist who was sensitive, and whose daughter was even more so. She told me once that she was working on someone who gave off really bad vibes and she felt chilled in her presence. When she went home that evening, he daughter said to her, rather alarmed, "Mom, why did you bring THAT in here?!" She had seen something slip in the door with her mom, and it wasn't nice. Both of them had to burn sage and do a cleansing thing to get rid of it. The mom was angry because it seemed to target the daughter immediately.

I'm glad I'm not that psychic at times like these.

Hi Sweetneers. Well I tended to believe that they did follow people around as I've always had many experiences & assumed they were the same ghosts/spirits/djiins. However, after reading Scarygirl's opinion, her explaination makes sense. Could be that some people are more sensitive & we tend to attract 'them'. Ghost

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
When I was younger, around 7, we moved into a home that had a lot of strange things that happened. My mother and father had both seen a little boy walking around. He seemed fond of my brother, sister, and I. We had a lot of crazy things happen to us. My mother said she saw him roll down the stairs one night and look at her. We moved about a year later and no matter where we moved we would have interesting things happen and would hear things on the stairs in every house. We just assumed the little boy who we called Stevie had followed us. I will say that my entire family has always had experiences with "ghosts" so scarygirl's explanation may be the better option but I like to think a little boy's spirit became attached and has followed us ever since.

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
Well keep in mind,my suggestion is only an opinion. I don't know and I don't claim to know if spirits exist or if we, as investigators, are simply sitting in the dark chasing after the explainable. Doing research as often as I am able to, I find many explanations that can cause people to think they are experiencing paranormal. It's the times when it doesn't seem to fit into an easy answer that keeps me looking and considering possibilities. Emphasis on the possibilities.

If ghosts truly do exist, it can only be theorized how they would make their presence known. It is possible (speaking from my own viewpoint here) that everything we have come to accept as spirit contact is all wrong. Not that they don't exist..but our perception of how they show themselves is greatly influenced by so many things. As a researcher I have to be open to the possibility that all of my perceptions about what a ghost is may be flawed and be open to further education about it.

Back to topic...if ghosts exist, what my question would be in regards to following someone is what would cause that to happen? Wouldn't they be more inclined to remain where they were drawn to in life? What would cause an impression or "energy" if that is what it is to form attachments to the living?

I think it depends on the situations. I think psychic people tend to be like beacons and spirits sort of stand in line sometimes, waiting to get through.

There seems to be a short time surrounding the time of death that spirits are likely to want to visit their relatives, to comfort them or say goodbye. (My brother-in-law saw his grandfather at the foot of his bed on the night he died. He was many miles away at the time, but his grandfather appeared in his room and smiled at him, then disappeared.) Over and over, I hear this happening. In my husband's experience, he has felt his mother and my ex-husband (his good friend) after they died, but this faded as time went on.

In other cases, you hear of spirits sort of attaching themselves to a person for whatever reason. Mostly, I think, because they have made some type of contact and crave more. When contact with spirits is clear and often enough, you tend not to doubt their existence. You sort of jump to trying to figure out what they need or want.

I also try to debunk and explain odd things. And sometimes there are very good explanations that are just normal events. But personal experience is just too often and too strong to leave me any doubts about whether there are spirits around. There simply are.

Residual hauntings seem not to be the same thing at all. They are like echoes or a looping video that just replays itself over and over in the same place.

Intelligent spirits are, well, intelligent. They seem to hang around familiar places, or people who can sense them, in my experience, limited as it is. Just observation.

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
I believe they can follow you. My son had one named Larry follow him from Texas, here to Arkansas and from house to house until only recently. Why? I don't know. Was he a guardian? A ghost? We aren't sure, but he definitely stuck by Jacob until Jacob prayed him away. And even then, he still showed up, just not as often til not at all (as far as I know).

RE: Ghost that "Follow" you
I think ghosts can only follow you if you believe they've followed you in much the same way that you can only see, feel and hear ghosts if
you have a certain mindset that permits and confirms that belief.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
