If you have no evidence for Demonic possession then your claim is veridically worthless. I don't believe in demons therefore I don't believe in demonic possession - that's not a suggestion it's a statement of fact.Great! Now that we established that your statement is actually an opinion, then there is no need to get into any further debate on whether the two actually exist. I will also put forward that my statements were also an opinion, based off of my previous statements speaking about the possibility of these things occurring. Thus, we are at a happy median: Where you believe what you do, and I believe what I do. If there are no claims being made, then there are no reasons necessary to support them. :br549:See? That's nice!

Thanks Ishamael, it may have been like pulling teeth but we've reached a mutual consensus

RE: So...do you believe in demonic possession?
Faith is the evidence of things not seen, the substance of things hoped for.
God makes promises. I believe He will honor them. And if I die before I've even seen the conclusion, I'll still trust Him. So, I don't have much material evidence that I can show as proof that God has heard me, and acted within my life time, I can point to many other believers that have come and gone before me. I can point to examples where God did honor His promises, but not within the lifetime of a particular believer. And, future believers may have the advantage of seeing God's promises becoming a reality, spiritually and physically. One more thing..., I can see how many believers before me had great faith, perhaps greater than my own. Peace. Forgiveness is next to deity. |

RE: So...do you believe in demonic possession?
How interesting it has been to re-read this post after so much time..and how much my feelings have changed on the whole subject of demonic possession or even demons.
After reading and researching the many many many MANY things that can make people believe they are experiencing something demonic..especially the human brain and the many things that can cause misfires as well as neurological disorders..I have to say that I have come to the personal belief that demons are more created by humans to absolve themselves of personal responsibility. I don't mean that is always intentional..but I do think there are people who are blinded enough by their own belief to validate someone else's misperception. And as long as it stays stuck in that mentality...there will be more examples of people getting told they have a demon when in reality they should be told to get medical attention. I'm also not saying that I am right or that I have found the holy grail of answers..but I have found what logically makes sense to me. And I will always say that anyone who does not first look at all of those issues that can be causing a person to believe they have a demon..has no business claiming that they can discern who is 'possessed' or claiming to 'get rid of it'. But it was interesting seeing how my feelings have changed from a few years ago....and all because I was open minded enough to look at all the other possibilities.
