RE: Strange Eastern State Penitentiary photos taken last night
Excuse me but you posted and wondered what happened. They are long exposures of at least 2 seconds. If you shoot off a tripod you will eliminate the camera movement and not get pictures like this. You can also learn how camera settings can eliminate pictures like this. I just suggested what your photography shows.
I do owe you an apology its not poor photography. The Sony dsc-t77 camera while a great camera for daytime pictures, is horrible for anything after dark. It has a weak flash, and ghosts your pictures, slow lens white balance does not perform well in artificial light.

Here are what reviewers are saying about it at night.
This camera is total disaster.
Images in low light/night include:
Ghosting - images are glared
Glare - shows glare spots
Very grainy - red spots
Not capturing real lights - red or yellow tone grains everywhere
Focus is completely off at night - lots of ghosting
Does not matter which mode u select.

Inconsistent touchscreen icon behavior
Weak flash
Moderate chromatic aberration at both ends of the zoom range
Reds and blues oversaturated; other colors are undersaturated
Has difficulty with household incandescent lighting
Poor low light performance
Below-average battery life
Maximum shutter time limits after-dark photography to reasonably well-lit scenes

As far as the orbs go, I'm of the opinion that unless they are seen with the naked eye (and a really scant few of those are the case), it is a reflection of dust, insect, or something that is in the air.

I'm not any kind of a photography expert, but I do listen to those who have more experience...even if it comes across as blunt. I'd rather someone get to the point about it and show me how to do it correctly. Very much of what comes across in a picture looking paranormal has an explanation of photography mistakes.

I had a similar experience. I took pictures of my house at Halloween, and I was excited to find all this "moving light ". I showed it to someone more experienced and was told that they are called floaters. So dashed all my "ghiosties and raggedy beasties" . What got me was that they formed the letter "E" in some pictures. Which was the letter of the family of a previous owner back in the early 1900's. Alas it was nothing.
But do take heart, with more practice and maybe better equipment, in time something will be caught on camera that can't be "poofed" !

I have merged 2 different threads here with photos from the same location. As well, the poster of this thread has asked that I remove her account from the forum. I have done as she asked, though I am leaving the pics and posts in the forum, as they are a perfect example of how poor photography is not paranormal photography.

First let me say I would love to see someone post pictures that caught paranormal. Will I ever see it? Probably not with the technology we currently have. Now I might come across as rude and maybe I am to an extent but I am sickened by looking at all the morons (yes I said morons) that have a paranormal team with poor photography and pictures that are easily explained. These teams are actually not only hurting the paranormal field but also the poor client that lives in fear now because pictures like this were shown to them and they were told they were haunted. This then, as others look at their pictures makes them think they have captured something paranormal as well. Its like a landslide that grows as others join. Well I am looking for the truth, I have taken time to understand what my equipment does, and how wrong settings do strange things. So when I see these type pictures I will always tell it like I see it.

Eastern State has become Disney World for amateur ghost hunters. You go there expecting to find a big and magical place, only to stand in line for an hour to take a ten minute ride that you saw dozens of times on TV and thought was cool.

Though the OP is gone now, I'd like to also point out that if you're this thin skinned about recieving criticsm to your photos on a message forum how long do you think you'll last before the steely eyed determination of someone like Jason Hawes or my team leader?

UglyNRude , I am not going to lie ..I felt very insulted when i posted my pics and you told me straight up how it was ...I wanted to run off this forum but held my ground and decided to be a big girl and listen .
In the end i respect all you have given me . You are not rude at all , just tell it like it is ...We just dont always want to hear that ...After all doesnt everyone want to get the real ghost pic ?
I respect your opinion as well as anyone else here ..Thank you for being honest with me Smile
