3 taps on the window when someone is passing over.

I remember in 1989 my nana told me this strange occurence whilst my papa was having a heart massive heart attack in the very early hours off the morning. They were the only people in the house.
Whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive my nana heard 3 taps on the bedroom window, she looked out but there was noone there.
There wasn't any trees or bushes near the window and the air was still outside.

Could this have been a sign off an imminent death because he died soon after.
My nana wasn't a religous person or ever spoke about the paranormal but she was slightly taken aback at these 3 taps.

Anyone else ever heard off such a thing?

Also my friends mother seen a glowing cross at a bedroom window when her sister was passing years ago. Strange.

RE: 3 taps on the window when someone is passing over.
There are lots of these old legends that the our parents and grand parents pass down.

The three knocks you mentioned.

If a picture falls off the wall someone will die.

If a sparrow gets in your home it was thought you must kill it or someone would die. Once gain just a wives tale.

If a bird keeps flying into your window someone will die.
Now I have had a bird see its reflection in my window and stayed there for hours till i pulled the curtains shut.

If you count the cars in a funeral procession someone will die.

Death always comes in threes

If you see a shooting star someone will die.

If you see a falling star someone will die.

The last name a person who dies says will be the next person to die.

When investigating paranormal don't rely on assumptions, base your decisions on evidence.

Eh yes I do know off these wives tales. I believe she heard 3 taps on the window. She wasn't one to harp on about hocus Pocus superstitious gubbins. I for one am not superstitious.

Or the magpies, now that is definately debunked as where I used to live there were loads off them birds and not one person died.

There's loads of harbingers of doom including The Banshee my name sake haha.
Now I wonder if anyone has ever heard her ghostly wails.

My mother used to say that to me when in a strop in my younger days 'STOP BLOODY WAILING LIKE A BANSHEE'

suppose that's the closet my family have come to one, hahaha.

TheBanshee - The glowing cross at the window when your friends mother died is really strange! Was it something she found frightening or comforting- as for some people the cross would symbolise God etc.

I'm not sure what to think about the "3 Knocks" legends. I have certainly heard of it and read it plenty of times.... It is true that much of it might be wives tales...On the other hand, sometimes these stories and legends grow because so many people have actually experienced it over the years. So you never know!

3 knocks is a Pagan representation of the human life. 1.flesh 2.spirit 3.soul it also represents the Goddess or the 3 fate's.
One witch to hold the thread of life one to hold the Golden scissors to cut life and one to hold the all seeing eye of 1.past 2.present and 3.future.
also Knocking could be a Pagan warning not to tempt fate. Paganism is full of the number 3 its is renewal and rebirth.
Eventually was used to discribed the Christian Trinity.

I have heard that when a person dies you are supposed to cover all mirrors in the house. Also open the window of the room a person dies in to let the spirit out. You are not supposed to wear red at a funeral or someone else will die. I am going to my third funeral in less than a month, hope it's done after these three.

I'm not sure about the other things you mentioned, but the way I understand it...in a Jewish house of mourning, when someone has passed, there is the period of time called "sitting Shiva". During this period of time, the mirrors are covered.

I don't know much of the others but, it does seem that deaths come in three's. The latest deaths in my family happened two years ago. These all revolved around my cousin, Ashley. He uncle died of cancer, a month or so later, her dad died in recovery after his gastric bypass surgery, 2 months later, she was killed when the throttle of her snowmobile stuck and she hit a group of trees.

I, too, have experienced deaths in 3's. Coincidence? ... maybe.

After my father passed away, my grandmother passed of a stroke 2 months later and then my grandfather passed of liver damage 1 month later. 3 in 3 months. The autopsy revealed chemical poisoning due to spraying his bedroom with bug spray to get rid of box elder bugs coming in from outside.

Recently, I lost a 2 cousins and an uncle in a matter of weeks.
