Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
We have got to bring this one back up to the top. I believe Astral Travel is something that comes natural to some and others just don't seem to get it. Same as the original post stated she just can't understand people who can't remember there dreams, or think they don't dream. I guess it's all part of how we are maid. I wouldn't say so much a learned activity, as more of something that if you are capable of it. learning to control it, and understand it, and remember it. Just like your dreams...

Because those that matter, don't mind
And those that mind, don't matter"

If you don't know how to astral travel, try it this way, which i did and had a successful, but short (got a bit freaked, so cut it short) experience:

You need to have a peacefull environment when the kids are sound asleep and so is the dog.

Lay on your bed, preferably on your own. Close your eyes and start imagining your body is becoming gradually heavier and heavier. Imagine it being like a mound of heavy clay. Before long you will feel the sensation of being so heavy you could sink into the bed. Once you get this feeling, you are able to astral travel (you'll realise why i said that if you experience this). Now imagine feathers floating upwards from your heavy body.

Keep the thought of feathers floating upwards. Say it to yourself in your mind over and over. Don't be alarmed when all of a sudden you can see even though you haven't opened your eyes in your body, which will now be laying on the bed with you out of it.

Try not to get freaked out as i did when i astral travelled. I was floating right up to the ceiling and suddenly became scared that i was going to enter the darkness of the loft. I ended up back in my body because of that thought. The strange thing was i couldn't move once i was back in my body for a few seconds, like the astral me had not quite got back in properly yet.

Anyway, as you realise that you are floating up, try to think of a place you would like to be and you will suddenly be there, like sitting on a beach in the Bahamas, or in the president's office. You can literally go wherever you like.

Whoever is up for this, then we could all try and do it at the same time, but i realise that may not be posssible.

I particularly would like UglyNRude to try this out Devil Smiley

Does anyone have any reasons they think astral travel is wrong?

That is exactly what happened to me.I too freaked out because I saw that I did this.I was in bed and my astral body was walking or floating around the room.Somebody wrote that the key word is IMAGINE.But you don't imagine this.Only thing that you imagine is when relaxing before projection. This is not the meditation that you do.This is completely different. You can feel that moment when you leave your physical body. And just coming back was not a good experience for me.I felt like strong impact in my body or that something threw me on the bed,so strong. But that is just because I freaked out.If it wasn't for that I would come back normally. And from that moment I don't want to do this with somebody who is more expert in this.

hello eyepriestess
i can relate to your experience as it is similar to mine
the methods of relaxing are quite different but the results are the same
i have tried to replicate the process of relaxing but i think my sub conscious mind is blocking me from relaxing . its hard to explain this to others who haven't even tried .
but i can tell you for sure it's scary to be floating above your yourself while your asleep on the floor

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
I'm currently experimenting with ways to astral project. I am sure the viewing of the external world is possible with just closing your eyes, but whether or not you leave the body itself I do not know. I believe the world is full of connections and all we are doing is using these connections to explore the world using our mind. However, it's not passed me to be open to actually leaving the physical self.

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
I've tried that. My friend is really good at astral projection and he gave me a meditative course. I swear I felt my arm raise up from my skin. Then I started to astral project in my dreams a few times.
I got a bit freaked out though and I think I somehow closed myself to it because it scared me quite a bit.
Maybe I should try again sometime...Tongue

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
I actually believe that when we dream we are having an OBE, we're just looking at a world of phantom images instead of the "real world".
One time I left a candle lit before I went to bed, it was on my window sill. I was dreaming that I was bar tending at a nightclub in what felt and looked like New York City. I realized I was dreaming and stepped out from behind the bar to explore my surroundings a little better. Before I could finish my investigation I felt an urge to come home, like there was something that required my attention. The dream images dispelled and I was standing in my kitchen, for a moment I thought I had slept walked. I went back into my bedroom and saw the lit candle... and the curtain was blowing right over the flame!!! I tried to blow it out and nothing happened, and then I looked at my immobilized body and I realized that I was still dreaming and I had left my physical body in a potentially hazardous situation. I gave myself the command to wake up and I re-entered my body and opened my eyes... and of course, blew out that candle.

I have a question about this ...Is this similar to an out of body experience?
If so , can people see you when you have left your body?
I ask this because i have been seen 2 times , once at home in my room with a child holding my hand , ( I was on a cruise ship violently sea sick when this occured. The second time was in a parking lot where i used to go to the laundromat , my mother saw me staring right through her , she was terrified and came home to find me sleeping on a chair .

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
The main difference I see when reading about astral travel and OBE's is that astral travel is traveling in the astral, or spiritual, plane and and OBE is simply traveling in this plane of existence during a sleep or sleep like state.

Trauma is one theorized cause for an OBE...maybe the trauma of being ill was causing you to see what you saw. As far as your mother seeing you...while that sounds like a very strange experience, I don't know for sure if it wasn't a case of mistaken identity.

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
You talked nothing about having a cable attached to your physical body to your astral body... I find it hard to believe you if you can't even state that in here...(or other things) You can't just think of a place and boom you are there. You travel places not teleport there. I've read stories about people who really astral travel and they all sound like the same thing but your story doesn't sound like it at all. Yea somethings sound kinda like it but way too much left out to be it. Read Projection Of The Astral Body and then come read this post and see if it seem right to you.
