What Is Your Opinion About the "Bible Code"? - CareTaker - 03-05-2009 10:00 AM

A couple nights ago we watched a documentary about the Bible Code. I have seen several of these shows and have read a few books on the subject as well.

To me the whole thing just seems like 'junk'. I even read somewhere that they applied the same program to War and Peace and found a lot of predictions there. In the book Moby Dick a code was found that supposedly predicted Princess Diana's death.

Personally I think they are reading too much into all this bible code stuff and I believe you could find these sort of "predictions" in any book especially the bigger ones (more words to work with)

I would be interested in hearing what other's opinions are about the Bible code so make a vote AND write your reply.

There are no right or wrong answers as this is just about opinions, thoughts and ideas.

I completely agree that it's all "junk". I'd guarantee you that I could find some sort of "prediction" in the last letter I wrote to my sister if I looked hard enough. Heck, there might even be a few "world altering" predictions in my grocery list!

Some people just have way too much time on their hands!

Scientific Statisticians have debunked this. There have been other studies done where by mistakes in the code can alter the findings drastically.

I watched a bit about this on T.V. I just dont know enough about it.

I find it rather flaky that there could be a code in the bible, on the other hand what I saw was really weird.

If there is a code in the bible I dont think God would have put it there as the bible was written by man. I am not slamming the bible nor God but I just dont trust some old geezer being true to what God said to write and not throwing a few (hundred) of his own ideas in there too.

"I am not slamming the bible nor God but I just dont trust some old geezer being true to what God said to write and not throwing a few (hundred) of his own ideas in there too."

That's exactly how I feel. Although, it may have been totally unintentional, I believe that a lot of the bible was written without the guidance of God!

My belief always was that if God made us, he knows us better than anyone, he knows we're human and not as intelligent as he is. SO why would he include riddles, codes etc in his word? Of course, IF he did he knew that eventually someone would figure it out. But still, I just don't see him doing that!

Haunted,

I believe that too!

'People' wrote the Bible (and we all know how unreliable people are, unless we know and trust them) and although I am a firm believer in God, I think the Bible could have been written by people who weren't being absolutely truthfull...who knows.

Every book we read, we don't automatically think, 'yeah that was definately the truth.'

I'm not saying everything in the Bible is wrong, I do believe the New Testament is more truthfull as there are so many testaments, which match with others.

I'm not sure what this code is you are referring to. I only know about the bar code theory which relates to Revelations.

I have seen several of those documentaries on TV. At first I thought it was really fascinating but after awhile it just seemed like BS to me. If the bible means anything I think it means pretty much what it says without any secret hidden code. I remember taking statistics in school and you can use numbers (and letters) to prove just about anything especially if you have a lot of em.

So no, I dont think thers anything to that bible code stuff

I think the folks trying to change the meaning of the words in the bible should concentrate more ON the words of the bible. The words were indeed written by men, but, very connected men to the word of God. Even tho it is an ancient book, I still find comfort reading psalms. It's still one of the most important books to humankind right now, and it is our youngest generation that this "decoding" thing, whether real or not, will affect the most. People need to know that the supernatural exists and that it can come into any one person's life at anytime.

Wish my Hebrew was better, as was my math but it is interesting to read about. As to if one believes, that is up to the individual,
