Creationism - dyingenglish - 11-05-2009 01:04 PM

How many people believe in Creationism (belief that god created the earth in a week) or evolution? I think it's stupid that we can't learn evolution in public school but we study christianity (which is illegal isn't it?) by calling it "bible study".

I dont know what school you went to, but in my school they taught Evolution.
I believe in God,who created the whole Earth, he is the Creator.
Every school is always in the news talking about how they banned bible study in schools, I'd like to know where yer research is coming from, for the record.

I think the design theory is quite compelling. Its about how everything seems to be designed for humanity, as if it was created. But the bones of it is I just don't know if theres some higer power that created all this.

I agree with you, when I was at school I got Christianity ramed down my throat and my parents did it to me to. The Christian idea of creationism to me does seem however, with the specific time periods presented that no one really could possibly know, pure rubbish in my opinion.

I Live in the bible belt so that's probably why. They taught bible study and in our science book was a chapter or two covering the topic of evolution but the teacher didn't want to go into it so we watched a 10 minute video about charles darwin and left it at that.

I live in the Bible belt too Smile
where you from?

I believe in the possibility of god, im not pure athiest. Most of the athiest i've met are arrogant pricks who don't really have a compelling argument as to why they don't believe in a god. I just think you can't ignore all the scientific discoveries we've made over time for a book.

Just like everytning else, there are Good Christians and there are those who claim to be Christians, but arent, and most of those are the ones who force their religion upon others.
I am a Christian, I will not force me beliefs on anyone, that is their choice to make, either accept or dont.
Alot of people run around here in the world claiming they are Christian, but in fact, they are ravenous wolves in sheep's clothing.

I lean toward evolution. I'm willing to believe in a higher power and all that but i do not believe in religion what-so-ever.

RE: Creationism - CareTaker - 11-05-2009 08:28 PM

What if a higher power created things with the ability to adapt and survive? I mean if there is a God who is all knowing wouldnt that be how it was done?

Also the whole 7days thing is up for argument. I do not believe the story of creation in Genesis was talking about 7 literal 24 hour days. Besides if you read it, it doesnt even say that everything was created in 7 days. If you think I am mistaken go back and read it again. Earth -already there, water -already there, light and darkness -already there, herbs and seeds -already there.

I agree CT.
My son informed me today that they(whoever they are) recently disproved Darwins Theory. Evolution never jibed with me!I havent researched it yet-but will.

I believe in a higher power-would like to reach a higher form of spiritualism-not religion. That doesnt mean I dont believe in the bible-just still on the search.
