Legend of the First Vampires - CareTaker - 06-02-2009 02:24 PM

I just posted a really interesting article about Vampires that was sent in be Chetan.

Chetan Wrote:This myth begins at the very creation of man and of Lilith (the first woman created for Adam).

So God created man and woman in his own image and blessed them. Many have made her a model for feminism, because when Adam would not relent in his domination of her, she grew so angry that she uttered the Holy name of God and vanished.

God then had to make Eve for Adam, making her of his rib bone, so that she would be attached to him and not leave as Lilith had done.

Here, Lilith went out to the Red Sea, where she made a bargain with the Angels and she was allowed to stay out on her own, as a witch, and MOTHER OF ALL DEMONS.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool. Chetan is a member of the forum here by the way so hopefully he (or she) will make a comment here as well.

(nerdness) There's a pencil and paper game called Vampire developed by white wolf (i think) called vampire the masquerade in which the person who became the first vampire is called Kane. It's unknown if he is Cain or just a sort of nod to the old legends. He is immensly powerful and is hailed as a god to the vamps. It gives vague hints he is Cain from the bible but not much else.

I just happened back upon this thread. I am really surprised this discussion didnt go further. The whole thing about Lilith and her being possibly connected to demons or vampires is something to think about. I have always thought there was some truth, some real person back there somewhere from which legends and our current ideas of Lilith came

I've been researching a lot lately for my book, and I keep finding references to Lilith as the 1st vampire. Very fascinating stuff!!
This site has some half decent info:

Thank you for helping bring this thread back to life, metalmom...and that was some good info on the Sumerian history of who Lilith may have been. I remembered the verse in the bible that spoke of her...but any mention of her being Adam's first mate was conveniently left out.

Well I have just came up on this thread must have missed it some how but now it really makes me think that there is truth behind the vampires but I dont think that it is as we see them today or that they suck blood and all of the other things with sun light and things of that maybe how that started was that the ones that were called Vamps only came out at night but only because they choose too not because the sun would kill them.
