What is your favorite type of movie horror? - SARAH BLUECLOUD - 05-05-2011 08:10 PM Choose from this list: Monsters Aliens Ghosts Slashers Animals Vampires Werewolves Machines Satanic RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - Fiona - 05-06-2011 04:52 AM I nearly always prefer movies about ghosts... anything about hauntings and spirits. Having said that, I also love anything with satanic themes, so if those are both in there, it's a sure fire way to get me gripped lol. RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - scarygirl67 - 05-06-2011 07:02 AM I would have to go with Fiona. I love a good ghost story, and there have certainly been some Satanic-themed movies that have scared the bejeesus out of me. Never been a fan of the alien movies and Twilight killed vampire stories for me. RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - WitchMom78 - 05-06-2011 07:39 AM I would have to go with Ghosts and Satanic. The ocassional slasher movie is good too LOL RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - Fiona - 05-06-2011 08:21 AM I agree, Witchmom. I love Halloween and the first three Saw movies. RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - John_M - 05-06-2011 01:05 PM My favorite is not on there, it is Zombie Movies. I don't really care for the George Romero remakes though. I like the traditional staggering Zombie, not the running ones. RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - 1TxLady - 05-06-2011 01:15 PM I vote spirit/ghost and hauntings along with satanic versus slasher types although I do like a well done zombie movie of which there are few. Although I do like a well done vampire movie as well. For me it's more a matter of ranking. RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - lightkeeper - 05-09-2011 02:19 PM Definately ghosts.Followed by vapires & monsters. Especially the old ones before CG effects-because I like the art of film making when it may have been more cheesy & less graphic but, perhaps more inventive in achieving the effect. But a good blood & guts zombie movie - sure can be fun. RE: What is your favorite type of movie horror? - jadewik - 05-10-2011 11:54 AM I prefer the psychological thrillers. This includes films like "The Others" and "Gothika". Unfortunately, the draw-back is that I usually have the plot figured out in the first five minutes... and, in the case of "The Ring", I find myself laughing more than cringing. I'm not big on gore as a scare-factor, so slasher films aren't my cup of tea (though, I do like Freddy Kruger and the Nightmare on Elm Street films). I also detest the use of startle as a scare. The effects are short-lived and I think it detracts from the film. Usually you can tell when something is going to jump out at you too. I can't stand zombie films because I hate watching futile situations. As a comedy, "Shaun of the Dead" was a good exception to that rule, but I still didn't like it. I would say I like werewolf films, but so far the only one I've really enjoyed has been "Blood and Chocolate". I'm something of a werewolf snob... and I don't like the way they're portrayed as hideous, mindless beasts most all of the time. The rest of the list is hit or miss with me... I guess I lean towards ghosts of all that remain on the list. Simply put, I just don't get scared unless I'm the one who imagines the threat... so horror isn't really scary for me unless it's psychological. Me too, lol I don't like movies like saw and the massacure ones, I watched one Saw and that was enough. The few slasher ones I did like were the freddy cruger ones, because of the dream factor, but by the newest one, I was tired of his claws scraping walls. That became funny rather than scary. Nothing like the older ones I watched when young that scared me to death of ever sleeping again. Now scary movies don't really scare me, though some disturb me, therefore somewhat scare me. Like patholagy. And Saw. I really liked the series about zombies, resident evil. And the one with Will Smith. I like the psychological ones too. I did like scream and I know what you did last summer for the cheap scares they used, and the comedy of it. The rite was good, that's the most recent one I have seen.
