LaLaurie Mansion - Chats With The Dead - 01-13-2011 11:27 AM

Has anyone ever heard of this place? I took a tour in New Orleans and this mansion stuck with me. It has a gruesome history, the owner use to perform horrible medical experiments on her slaves and was never apprehended for her crimes. The house is thought to be cursed because no one has owned it for more than 5 years at a time and when they do own it, something negative usually happens to them. Nicholas Cage is known as one its previous owners. He said that they would eat in the house but never sleep in it.

These sites go more in depth about what happened there. I just wanted to share it with everyoneIcontexto-emoticons-01-032x032

I'm not sure about the curse, but I do agree that there is a very gruesome history there. I think people can be very much affected by what they hear about something. Ghosts or not...what went on at the LaLaurie house has a lot to teach us about how brutal human beings can be.

Thanks for sharing the links..prarieghosts is one of my favorite sites for legends of hauntings.

Thanks for the links, & welcome.
The gruesome history of this house,if true, should certainly rank it as one of the scariest & most likely to be haunted places in the America.
Madame LaLaurie seems to be the US version of the misteress of Rose Hall.

I ran across this site that has an easy-to-read transcript from the newspaper account of the fire at the Royal Street home. I really love old newspaper articles, not just for the interesting tidbits that would be added but because they told more of a story than a "just the facts" report. Granted..this may be why there are so many legends that get screwed up due to journalistic license being taken. At the same time, it offers us a glimpse into history that we don't always see when looking at "just the facts".

I've read about this place many times..its fascinating and haunting...
how scary human beings can be. 'cause how many people she knew actually would've thought she'd be capable of such horrendous acts?
Makes you wonder...whose wearing pretty masks, but hiding a sinister character beneath..
Wrong..just wrong..
