I found out why salt supposedly repels demons. Salt is one of the purest substances on earth. It's been used in rituals for hundreds of years and demons are repeled by it because of it's pureness and the fact that it is white. They fear it because they confuse it with what i assume to be holy light. This only works if the person in question believe in it though. As i've said and many people on this forum have said, if you have no faith than it's not going to work.

When i wake up everything will be all right...

RE: Salt
That's what I always understood it to be...about the purity of it. I know that a friend of mine believes wholeheartedly in circling her home with salt to protect it. As far as it working...well, she's happy, so I say go for it!

RE: Salt
It's interesting to note that salt plays a significant role in most religions, especially during rituals. The Old Testament discusses salt being used as a cleanser for well waters and was also used for cleansing the skins of newborn babies and protecting them from infection. In some cultures salt is used to exorcise demons and in many parts of the world it is used to ward off the evil eye. Salt is also used as baptismal salt and the blessed salt. So yes, it seems like it is incorporated into religion, serves as a preservative in food and used in medicine as well.

thanks for the interesting post Smile

RE: Salt
The simple fact that salt is still being used for all of these purposes gives even more merit to the fact that the main thing about using anything is faith. Why? Because the common salt that we use everyday isn't actually pure, but it still seems to work for many. I've always believed that whether you use salt, herbs, olive oil or just plain old tap water, your faith is what makes it work.

Of course, even basic table salt works great when used for medical purposes. That's why rinsing your mouth with salt water can often help tooth or gum problems.
