Discrepancies & Misinterpretations in the Bible?

RE: Discrepancies & Misinterpretations in the Bible?
Here is a possibility - What if "Adam" wasnt an individual man but was instead a group on men?

Indiangirl - I do see your point. I would not be willing to kill my child for nobody and would literally fight a grizzly bear, alien, or even Godzilla to protect them.

Hmmm.... Interesting idea. What made you think of that? My avatar is acting appropriately....

Who did their children marry? Where did Cain go? and who did he marry? (By the way Lilith as an answer to that particular question is thought provoking)

I have wondered about that for a long time. Adam means something like "red or ruddy" and in some other passages (New Testament) it seems to me like Adam is spoken of as though he were a collective and not an individual.

Interesting point IG-like you and CT I wouldnt harm my child to prove anything.

CT-fascinating idea. Today I just read something about humans being male and female at one point at Unexplained Mysteries.com. Hard to fathom that baby-but interesting nonetheless.

I have read that before. I dont believe it. I read and studied and looked at it and it didnt 'ring true' to me. I think a lot of folks try to use that to explain why there seems to be two different accounts of the creation of man and woman.

We are NOT gonna come to an agreement on this subject.
For you say I am changing yer words and I am saying you are changing my words, so we are neither winning this debate, it is only fueling our fires of our opinions.
so lets just drop this and agree to not let this get to us, okay?
my apologies

The Bible is a book written by man and as Care Taker said has been translated from it's original text and much has been changed. The Native Americans go on Vision Quest and use certain things to help them see things more clearly but some people say they are just hallucinating how do we really know that the writers of the Bible didn't do the same thing.Just a thought

RE: Discrepancies & Misinterpretations in the Bible?
Both OT and NT are full of discrepancies, misinterpretations, and getting stuff just down right wrong but thanks to the early church father, speaking of the Caholic Church, yep, the Pope included, they kept in what they liked and left out what they didn't. Which caused all kinds of problems as certain groups felt some parts were included/excluded to benefit those in power, which still rages, in lesser groups but there are several types of the Bible in print, with all authors claiming correctness. No idea where God stands on the issue, the jury is still out with him.

The notion of picking one time of the year to be decent to other people is obscene because it's actually validating the notion of being miserable wretches the rest of the year.

I've often thought the same thing, Graveyard Hound...my opinion is, God is not too fond of many of His public relations people.

If anyone has researched what version they feel is most inclusive of the original text, I would love to know what it is?

You won't find one unless you know of some scholar that has copies of the missing text, that the church deemed "inappropriate" to included in the Catholic Bible, which differs with the KJI edition. I gess they, the Catholic fathers, found the Gospel of Mary or the Gospel of Thomas just too ripe with questions thhe early church councills didn't want to discuss.
Just stopped by to see what,if anything had been resolved. Well maybe later.
