RE: Can you beleive in any religion and still die as a good spirit?
I hope i don't get anyones backs up here, but can you believe EVERYTHING that was written in the Bible? Does anyone ever believe every single word they read in a book written by people like the Bible also was.
I believe some of it, but i also think alot was written in order to scare people into co-operating. ![]() Greyfriars Bobby's Ghost All my life I always wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should have been more specific... |

Your knowledge of the Bible is inspiring, Pitch. I know that non-believers can quote the Bible as well, but you always know the verse that describes exactly what we're talking about. Of course, I know the Bible is a big source of inspiration for your books, but it's more than that. I thank you for helping me pick up this Book, that so often gathers dust in my home because I get caught up in the day to day. Sorry, EP, I was responding to Pitch, then saw you were up there! We have missed you, my friend. I believe that the Bible was written by men, inspired by God. It has been translated from many different languages. I believe (?) that the original languages were Hebrew and Aramaeic. I too have had questions about literal translations. I also know there were books, like the book of Enoch that were left out of the Bible. So, I'm going to hope Pitch takes over here, because this really is her forte. RE: Can you beleive in any religion and still die as a good spirit?
As I stated in another thread, the Old Testament and the New Testament combined to create the Christian Bible is the inspired word of God. You can read it and rest assured that every word is true. Now Jesus was famous for his little stories, which He used to get a point across to His followers. Stories that teach lessons but these stories are very easy to recognize.
The same is true of the book of Revelations, it was written in secret to prevent Man from learning too soon, how the end will come. It is only during that time frame of which it is written that its meanings become clear. Let me reiterate, God would not allowed His word to be miswritten as in the original Hebrew, Old Testament or Greek, New Testament, languages. The primary reason anyone will question the Bible is because they do not want to follow it or it conflicts with how they want to live their lives. I am stepping on toes here and well I know it. RE: Can you beleive in any religion and still die as a good spirit?
It's ok scary, i'm not sure about the whole facts of the Bible and i do struggle to believe that God's wrath is worse than a demons. Jesus taught us that God is love, so which one is which, just don't understand it. All is JMO of course, not meaning to put the Bible down at all, but can we believ absolutely every single word? If so, why?
Scary, i replied about Borley in that other post where Warrier wanted us all to meet, can't remember it's name now ![]() (06-22-2009 07:06 AM)scarygirl67 Wrote: That is a good point, Pitch. But until I came to Him with nothing but my soul on the line and asked for His help did I come to understand what a gift He gave us. ![]() Greyfriars Bobby's Ghost All my life I always wanted to be somebody. Pitch, your comment came in just before mine, probably at the same time even, so i missed it until now.
It's not that i don't want to follow the Bible, but i do struggle with whether it is all definately true. If you take the Jehovah's witness re-written bible which is intended to control the cult, then how do we know the Bible was not re-written in order to control the masses. It might not have i know, but we don't know for certain. Asking these sorts of questions or even answering them Pitch should not anger people, as we are all just trying to learn and give feedback, so whatever you have to say is greatly received. I don't pretend i know exactly for sure what happens once someone dies because i don't and the people that do aren't in any position to tell us. As i said, religion just ruins things for me. I envy the people that can believe and put faith in a religion it's just not for me.It's like loving your country but thinking the government is screwed up. i believe it will work for me in the end because i do have faith in it and to me, that's what it's all about. i too think if you believe in God and live your life as a decent person then you have nothing to worry about. RE: Can you beleive in any religion and still die as a good spirit?
I know how the Witnesses did write their own version of the Bible, called the New World Translation, which is why I said the original texts. I think that today newer translations are probably truthful because we are not under a religion dynasty today as was the case during the early years of the Catholic Church, (I think their Bibles were in Latin,) who btw also have their own version of the Bible with books not found in the mainstream Christian community.
The thing is, you cannot pick and choose what you want to believe or what you think is true, it is either all or nothing. Either the Bible is fact or it is fiction. If it is fiction, read it, enjoy the tale and forget it. But if is true, then read it, study it, live by it. RE: Can you beleive in any religion and still die as a good spirit?
but that's the thing though, EVERY religion has the same over all message. Except if your a satanist, then it's kinda the opposite but that's beside the point. Every religion has truth, what gives christianity the right to declare them the one true way in a world with literally thousands of different faiths? I just can't see the point in religion. I suppose it hasn't touched me in the way it has so many others.
