Can you beleive in any religion and still die as a good spirit?

I was wondering because I've heard of Native Americans being Spirit Guides and they certainly did not believe in Christianity. (they believed there were several gods of nature and elements some other tribes believed in different forms though but none were Christians...) Also would atheists die and become good spirits as long as they led a good life? I don't think God is too judgmental even if you don't think he exists I think he can allow you to be a good spirit. Also it is my understanding that everyone is only one spirit but go through different lives so if you make it into the good spirit world once you should be able to go back. What are your thoughts?

My personal faith is Christianity. Your question is one I have asked for years.
My opinion? God has a special place in His heart for people who are living their lives in a way that pleases Him. My faith is that when the time comes, all things will become clear to all people. Those who have been doing their best to do the right thing in their lives, not just with words, all of that will be taken into account. But yes, I do believe,(and it is what works for me) that Jesus was here for the purpose of saving Mankind. It's the faith that saved me...........but I can only speak for myself.

I answer that question in Millennial Chronicles!! Without going into details so not to give away the story too much, and I have asked this question before.

What is the Millennium for?

What I am about to say is NOT the standard thought of main stream Christianity, whose belief is, if you die unsaved then you are sentenced to the Lake of Fire regardless.

The Millennium is a time of training and retraining. Just elaborate on that and gain comfort from it.

I gain this insight not from any one verse in the Bible but from a wide range of hints so I cannot quote.

If you believe in the Bible, then I think the answer to this question is plain. You must be saved and covered by the blood of Jesus to enter heaven. From my understanding of the Bible, you have to ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart, or your life and repent to be saved.

I'm not so sure I'd base entering heaven, becoming a good soul or what ever you want to call it on just being a good person. And, if a person is an athiest and don't believe in God in the first place, then why would he welcome them into his kingdom?

Matthew 10:33
33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

2 Timothy 2:12
12 if we endure, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us.

And, I take this to mean that our works, the things we do, just being a good person, isn't enough to save us.

Ephesians 2
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What a great answer. Our God Created Man for His Glory and He demands our worship. Of course it is desirable to be good to your fellowman, to follow the laws, but we are saved by grace and not by works, but after our redemption then we want to change our lives, to live in such a manner that glorify our Savior.

Exd. 20:5 / Deu. 5:9 For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

YES! at least that's what i want believe. In my opinion, all religion is to me is worshipping the same guy over and over and over again, basicaly all they're fighting over is the name.
"Allah! Jesus! Allah! Jesus! Allah! Xenu!"
i think people just need to chill out. I think if you're a good person you have nothing to worry about. btw, i know a native american shaman. They don't worship "gods" (they do but not exactly. like a tomato tamahto thing) They worship nature and spirits. They have a single "great spirit" which is a rough equivalent to a god. I'm agnostic. I don't follow a set faith. I have my own connection with god and it's worked out for me so far.

When i wake up everything will be all right...

I've got to ask you this, hope you don't mind, but i'm just curious. If you are an agnostic, how do you have a connection with God?

Other than that, I have to agree with you, that if you are a good person then you're not going to go to hell. I don't even believe in a hell.
Let's take a tyrant like Sadam Hussein, who did believe in a God, but he was evil, is he going to go to heaven over the good person who didn't believe in God? I don't think so personally.

Again, only my thoughts, but I've always known "agnostic" to mean "not sure what is there, but acknowledging a higher power does exist". Whether you and I agree on terms of faith, dyingenglish, you're one of the coolest people on this forum! (and I love some of the threads you start....you do have a wisdom beyond your years).

This thread has interested me, because it's a question I've always had about God and what happens to good people that don't believe. I'm not even sure if I've had that question answered to my satisfaction. I do believe that a day is coming when all things will be made clear to all people. And I feel everyone is on their own path. And I think we can all agree that if more people would live the way Jesus taught us to live, the world would not be in the sorry state it's in.

RE: Can you believe in any religion and still die as a good spirit?
Believe is a word often confused with worship. I believe in Yahweh, God, I also worship Him. I also believe in Lucifer, Satan, the Devil but I DO NOT worship him.

Is there a literal 'Hell'? With eternal torment in fires. "Lake of Fire is mention through the Bible, and the smoke of their torment ascends forever,.
Rev 14:11
And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

Rev 19:20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Rev 20:10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet [are]. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Rev 20:14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
