I've been dealing with sleep paralysis for about two years now and have come to cope. I've never really been afraid, except once and that was a few minutes ago.
I get sleep paralysis 2-4 nights a week 1-3 times a night, with some exceptions.
What I've noticed is that if I wake up normally, but fall back asleep within the hour then 7/10 I'm gonna have sleep paralysis.
An example is, let's say my alarm goes off, you awaken for a few minutes, but are still tired so you fall back asleep. I just thought about it, but to turn off my alarm I have to get up, walk two or three yards to my alarm clock and then turn it off. I don't remember doing that all if I go back to sleep.
If I fall asleep right after snapping out of my paralysis then I usually get another attack. Last week I was paralyzed 4 or 5 times before I actually got to sleep peacefully. I tried really hard to stay awake but I was exhausted.
When I get sleep paralysis my body has a distinct sensation, kinda like when your leg falls asleep but all over your body.
You can, some-what, control what you hallucinate. I've been experimenting with this theory lately and it has proven true to some extent.
Last night, or should I say this morning, I fell asleep (After turning off my alarm) and when I woke up I kept my eyes closed because I felt the sensation I describe above. I knew I was paralyzed without even trying to move. As soon as I felt the sensation I repeat "Angels, Angels, Angels, Angels" until I felt a presence in my room. I opened my eyes and low and behold there was a bright white light in the corner of my room. I tried and tried to see the source of the light but the harder I tried the dimmer the light went, until eventually, it disappeared.
I stopped look at the corner and looked straight up and for the first time in my two years of sleep paralysis I saw shadowy black hands not even an inch about my face. I began to hyperventilate, even if I could call out for help, I wouldn't be able to, this was probably the first time in my life that I was genuinely scared.
