I've seen it twice, once at Brunswick and Harbord and again at Montrose and Harbord, not too far away. Recently someone I spoke to on Facebook thought that they had seen a tiny grey alien in their house, which then ran away. Since they mostly saw it from behind I'm not surprised that's what they thought, because the ant-eater is a strange looking animal. It has greyish looking skin, not really much hair or anything. It walks upright on its hind legs in a funny waddling way. It has long claw like fingers. Basically the closest thing to an alien in the animal kingdom. For some reason people keep them as pets and like cats they can roam large distances at night, scavenging for food. They're sort of like racooons in that way.
That is HILARIOUS! There's a roaming ant-eater? Hahaha! I love it!

Toronto is funny like this. We have a zoo in the park near me which has all sorts of interesting animals. Once the peacock escaped for a few weeks and was seen running and jumping along the roof of buildings nearby. Another time some of the capybaras (worlds largest rodent, size of a large dog) escaped and were missing for a few weeks.

One of the biggest news stories here a few years ago was a woman who took her pet monkey to Ikea dressed up in fancy clothing and then it got loose!
