Do you believe that some people that call themselves psychics can actually send curses or negative energy to other people?
Once I decided to consult a psychic regarding a personal issue. He seemed really good at detecting my emotions and seemed to know what was going on, however over time I kept getting a negative feeling when seeing him so I stopped. This was followed by a period of horrendous events in my life. I don’t know if it was just my perception of life that was negative because it really seemed like it couldn’t get any worse despite me trying to stay positive, or was it because I was cursed.

Curses are spells that one casts upon another. If such magic exists, then yes it is possible to send curses, by way of ritual, toward a specific person. However, the negative energy being transferred is far more likely.
Look here in
Positive Energy Question. I describe my opinion of how I understand energy works. Taking that into account, it is very possible for someone to transfer negative energy to another person. Whether by radiating it (laugher and good moods are contagious), or actually directing it to a person.
I can't tell you his intentions. If he was doing this too you, then it`s a good thing you've stopped seeing him. If he wasn't, perhaps you should try to find out if there is anyone that would have reason to dislike you or project this type of energy toward you. And, most importantly, keep staying positive.
Ok first you stated someone who calls them self a psychic. There are few true psychics, most are cold readers or shot gun readers. You said he seemed good at detecting your emotions, he may have just been working you with hits and misses for that information. We as humans forget or ignore the misses but focus on the hits. Now all through life we meet people we get bad vibes from, this might of been one for you. Now as far as your negative period, I think we all go through bad times where it seems nothing goes right. A curse? No I think its coincidence. Now if they had told you they put a curse on you then it would of been possible to influence you, but I think your just adding 2+2 and coming up with 5.
I truly believed this had happened to me. It was unreal how much crap in my own life I gave the credit to someone else for.
I had someone in my life that claimed to be a psychic. When I had conflict with this person, which resulted in our ceasing to communicate, a series of really horrible events took place. I couldn't own anything that I did because I was too caught up in blaming this person for everything that happened...because they had put a "curse" on me. They had focused all of this negative energy on me, and it took over my life.
Nice excuse for over a quarter of a century of bad decisions and unfortunate circumstances...but the fact is, a series of horrible events didn't happen...LIFE happened. And I focused on the negative. And I ALLOWED it to consume everything.
When I let go of that...and believe me, it was a LOOONG time before I did...I can't describe how liberating it was to finally own every bad decision I had made that got my life in a pickle. I am nowhere near where I would like to be at this stage of the game, but when I stopped looking at my life and my circumstances as "cursed"...things got better. And that's because I chose to focus on the positive.
It's hard to say. They're many different types of psychics, or different abilities. Some are more pronounced then others and the ability itself tends to vary with each person. With this said, I think a text book definition of a psychic is hard to agree upon. I believe any person who has any visible ability has a choice on how to use it. They can use it to help others, or use it manipulate people and only benefit themselves. I don't converse with many other sensitives, we all tend to do our own things. Personally, I don't like the attention so i like to keep to my self when it comes to the "psychic" thing.
Curses are such a tricky subject. I think scarygirl really nailed it with the summary of her own life in that she was looking for an outside source to blame.
It's why I tell people who get a reading from me, "I am just here to give you information. I can't solve your problems for you or take the place of someone who can."

I think its very possible, but it really depends on what we allow in our lives. There are very few, true psychics around, most are out for your money. Any time you feel bad vibes from another person, stay away, they dont have to be psychic to cause you harm. I know some very negative people that tend to suck the life out of me if i am around them, so, i stay away. Keep positive people in your life and you should be fine.
Do you believe that some people that call themselves psychics can actually send curses or negative energy to other people?
No but I believe that people believe they can. Curses and negative energy are perceptions fuelled by superstition and cultural influences. Like Homeopathy they work on the placebo effect.
He seemed really good at detecting my emotions and seemed to know what was going on, however over time I kept getting a negative feeling when seeing him so I stopped.
That's the way they work Irina. One visit is never enough because the readings start cold and get warmer each time. Most people get a negative reading in their bank balance when consulting these outrageous frauds. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with this person, they should be ashamed of themselves.
This was followed by a period of horrendous events in my life. I don’t know if it was just my perception of life that was negative because it really seemed like it couldn’t get any worse despite me trying to stay positive, or was it because I was cursed.
I'm sure the two are not linked. As you've said - our perceptions of our lives at any given time are subjective and either positive/negative or wavering between the two. Plus our perceptions are very easily changed and coloured on a day to day, week to week or month to month basis, however we may cherry pick these and vary our impressions so that in retrospect we're not being accurate in our recollections. We often retrofit
past experiences to match our current perceptions. Curses are often self fulfilling prophecies and work in the same way as placebos. They often involve us making connections that are completely coincidental and random but seem to fit the criteria of the curse.
IMO life is too short and too important to subject ourself to superstitious beliefs. As K2M has said - Keep positive and surround yourself with positive people

Yes in the sense of negative thoughts you have about this person and letting your mind build up hate and animosity for them.An actual curse or potion conjured up by someone against you is hard for me to grasp the concept of how it would hurt you.
I admit I am on the fence with this one. I see a psychic every 6 months to a year. (Too often can cause dependency and hinder one's own growth.) I consider my visits spiritual guidance as I personally see psychic gifting as evidence of spiritual gifts. I don't go expecting my future to be told. We are all in control of our own futures...depending on the paths that we choose. To me this is guidance to remain on my path to get where I want to be and I am by no means done yet.
That said, as with any guidance counselor you should be comfortable with the person you work with. Psychic, social worker, psychologist...whatever, that same comfort and trust level should be there. If you are picking up negativity of any kind you are seeing the wrong person.
I will say as one who also considers myself psychic to a degree, that to be in the company of a person who is psychic can be unsettling especially if a.) you are empathic and pick up the readers own energies. (They may have some personal issues you are sensing, trouble at home, an argument with a neighbor...anything that would leave them unsettled in any way.) And, b.) you are sensitive and feel blocked by their own sheilding and protections designed to keep you from 'reading' them during your session.
Everyone carries with them at all times some level of their own negativity. Just because you feel this in a person doesn't mean it is directed at you or has anything to do with you at all. If someone calls my home selling something and won't let me just say no and let me off the phone I get agitated. Then right afterward you call and I answer the phone in frustration it isn't because you caused it nor is it directed at you. Still you can sense it and might even ask if it's a good time to talk. Granted this is just one example.
As far as curses and psychics sending purposeful negative energies sure it could happen, but only as much as any person could. I have been the focus of what I call psychic attacks before and it isn't terribly enjoyable. I had to learn my own protections and sheilding techniques so that attacks of this sort didn't affect me or my circumstances. I realized early on that I had the upper hand in controlling what I let affect me and that it was really my choice.
Now, I realize fully that this could get dragged into a debate that I was only affected by such an attack because of my own belief and that I must have been told about it therefore I was reacting through hyseteria ad nauseaum...but that isn't the case. When psychic attacks and curses affect us that are not told about or given knowledge of from the source of the negativity that eliminates that possibility. Still, we have a choice in how to react to the energies of others. Whether or not you believe life is an accident or that it has some purpose or even that things just occur as a series of strange coincidences is of little consequence...whatever the case, remember that you do have the ability to block negative energy.
Like everything else in life, it's your choice in the end. Protect yourself...and always protect your bank account! I cannot emphasize enough that many in this line of work are out to get your money and could honestly care less about you as a person. I have nothing against psychics charging as they do provide a service of council...but you need to set limits.
Some suggestions;
1. Don't pay more than you are comfortable with, generally 25 dollars for half an hour (at least in my area) is fair for both the psychic and the client.
2. Don't ever pay 'extra' for additional services for protection or spells. A responsible psychic will teach you the skills to do this for yourself and provide resources of study, books to read etc. to hone your protective sheild for yourself.
3. Don't get roped into dependency on your psychic or spiritual counselor. Like I metioned I visit my own for spiritual guidance once to twice a year and no more. It's my life and though I accept direction in my path I know my successes and failures are due to my own decisions.
