Do you think that spirit activity heightens during storms? More specificaly electrical storms?
I know that as a rule, most people say spirits tend to "rob" energy from things in order to manifest/communicate so I was wondering if electrical storms could make the activity seem more then usual
I only ask is because we have been having some nasty storms here lately with non stop lightning that last hours. And we have been seeing our shadow person quite frequently lately and we have all (kids included
) been hearing voices being whispered in our ears but nothing can be made out from it if that makes sense
It seems at least 6 feet tall and thin. It doesnt really interact we just see it moving across the bathroom door and the utility room door (we keep the bathroom light on with the door cracked so the kids can find their way if need be in the middle of the night)
I've personally never really experienced a spike in paranormal activity from a storm, but your theory logically makes sense.
I don't see as to why a spirit couldn't pull energy from the air to use.
I think it would be hard to pinpoint paranormal activity in a storm like that, because of one key word..."electric". Again, the possibility of high EMF's and the effects it has needs to be looked at as well.
I can certainly agree that there is a tangible energy during a storm like that, and yes, I believe it is possible that spirits are capable of utilizing that energy. Personally though, it makes me want to do more research about EMF's and how much higher they are during an electrical storm..and how that might correlate with more reports of paranormal activity.
I'm glad you're keeping track of what's happening at your house, WM....how are your kids doing with all of it? I noticed you had the frownie face after that...is it scaring them? Just surround them with the positive energy that I know they feel from you...they know that you and your husband will look out for them.
Do storms increase activity or give it a more spooky feel? As we grow up we watch shows that show haunted houses and they usually have a storm that gives it the spooky effect.
People claim entities drain their batteries... lets look at that, a camera or recorder goes dead with supposedly new batteries is it paranormal? Lets take a deeper look, if spirits use battery power that would make them dc (direct current). Your home is AC (alternating current) which is an in some ways an endless supply but we don't see them tap into this. So they must be DC, now lets look at that, look around your home, what do you have with batterys? Watches, remotes controls, cell phones, cordless phones, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, clocks, and lets not forget car battery's. These are a great deal of DC power but do we hear about spirits draining them? So I think this shows spirits don't drain battery's
Now people claim spirits use energy, so when we walk into a spirit we should feel heat right? Well then why do people claim spirits are cold spots?
So lets go back to storms, we have lightning .... hmmmmm flashes of light ... strange shadows? Moving shadows?

Normally I would chalk it up to the lightning casting strange shadows but being that i live underground in a basement and where the shadow is always seen, the normal shadows from a window does not hit that area (I've been doing some debunking LOL).
I tried having hubby drive the car up and down the driveway with the lights on (both regular and brights) and it does not cast a shadow in that area of the house.
We're due for another storm tonight so I'm going to keep track in my notebook I started and see if there is any activity.

To answer SG's question, it does frighten them when the hear the voices but I do my best to console them. They both are sensitive to these things (Hubby's family are all sensitives on the Japanese side)
I will keep a running update! I may start a thread for a "spirit journal" or something LOL
I don't know from personal experience, but I do believe that the stronger electrical currents during thunderstorms could help aid spirits to manifest. Although, another possibility of increased sightings could be that during other seasons when it's nice outside, people aren't so cooped up at home, so you may not notice the amount of activity you actually have at your home. In the fall or wintertime, however, when it rains, you're inside more, and may notice an increase simply because you're there. A friend of mine captured an amazing photo during a thunderstorm, it was actually on her porch, and you could see an old lady apparition. She had never experienced that sighting previously, so the thunderstorm could have helped that spirit manifest.

In the autumn, mid Sept to mid Oct, the 'veil' between the realms thins, allowing more activity and contact...with its thinnest point being around All Hallow's Eve. I have found that this past summer, when we were having a cluster of solar flairs, it seemed to amp up the volume and almost punch holes in this 'veil' between worlds. I found activity and communication amplified. This is from my perspective as a ParaPsychic Investigator and as a Psychic as well.
Weather can also be a factor, in my experience, when an 'electrical' storm is coming...activity tends to increase, and cooler weather seems to be better, I have often wondered too about varying climates we have across the country and thought out the world...having to do with increases and decreases in para activity..ie New England...tends to be at least in my area, humid and damp, often times. England which is very active, is a cooler damper environment as well, we know water conducts electricity, perhaps it acts as an amplifier as well for para energy.
In my religion this is the time where the veil between the worlds is thinning with its thinnest being at Samhain time. We've been noticing it for a while but just recently started paying close attention since its no longer just affecting one of us, we have all had experiences
UNR makes some great points.
The electrical power in lightning is many times the power in household products or car batteries. It charges the atmophere around it. Many garden crops thrive after a strong lighting storm.
Spirits might get the same burst of energy from lightning.
Or we may just get some burst in perseption or imagination during storms.
And of course lightning can create strange refractions & shadows.
encompassing ordinary things.
Those are some of the things that make lighting storms soo fasinating
