I include this legend here, because whenever i told it to my friends and other people from england or other countries, even germany, they find it really cute.
As far as i know Austria is one of the only countries that don't believe in santa clause but in the christkind. It is said, that on the day of 24th December, the baby jesus with blond locks and little wings like an angel comes into the living rooms of the people and that's why no kid is aloud to go in there the whole day. It puts up the christmas tree with all kinds of sweets and glittery things and puts the presents underneath it. then when it's already dark, it rings a little bell that everybody in the house can hear and then they are finally allowed into the living room to open all the presents and to celebrate. On the 25th and 26th we have relatives and other people over for dinner and peaceful gathering. and a few days later, up to the beginning of january, we relieve the tree of all the glittery things and put it on a table for the christkind to pick up during the night. Not to outdo good old santa clause, but christkind rules for me:o)
Interesting! Must have all kinds of needles on the floor and stuff after putting it up on the table.
Interesting, I do enjoy learning about legends and stories from around the world
I think that is a wonderful tradition! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Thank you for your nice words, i'm grateful for that tradition, cause we don't have many legend, not even something like bigfoot as a tourist attraction, so thank god for christkind:o)
What a lovely story, thank you. I am always eager to learn of other legends and cultural beliefs. I very much like your Christkind. Icontexto-emoticons-04-032x032

Thanx:o) And you know, a lovely side effect of the christkind is that we can open our presents one day earlier, now that must count for something*g*
