Yes, sleep paralysis is real. I suppose in some rare cases it can be explained by some sort of medical or scientific condition, but I believe it is a paranormal thing, Some evil spirit, entity, demon, whatevever you might call it is actually attacking the person. I have went through this experience two different times, both times were in the same house so I think that had something to do with it.
Two names that have been used to describe such entities in old paranormal terms are the succubus and the incubus. The succubus goes after male victims and the incubus seeks female victims.
I experienced sleep paralysis as a kid and during this same period, I was also seeing an apparition of a lady in a black dress made in the old bustle style. I thought the two were related. I can also distinctly remember seeing her pass by me once while I was laying down as well. I wasn't the only one in the house that was seeing the lady either.
Oh wow, trust me this usually turns into a book for me. I'll try to keep short. Yes I believe in it 100% and have experienced it several times.
First time was during the night. I know I was awake as you describe, but not even able to move a finger. Same scared feeling for an unknown reason. Being someone who is very open to all paranormal I tried to talk and ask "it" (whatever "it" was, if there was one) what it wanted or needed from me but couldn't talk.
Next time it happened was in the middle of the day. I dozed off studying propped up agains the headboard, and same thing. This time I felt my bed move once as well. Again, everything same as above, and it would last only a couple minutes. Then as quick as it starts, the pressure from my chest is gone, and can move around talk as normal.
It didn't happen for years again. The 3rd time it did happen was the big wham tho, and it has never happened since. It was middle of night, with the only light being from the VCR display. I awoke, and knew immediately cause the pressure of sorts it seems to create in your chest. I seen a shadowy human form pass in front of the display, then I could literally feel someone on top of me, I could feel depressions in the bed on either side of me, and I could feel hands on my shoulders. I could feel a breath in my face - but I could not see anyone. A low, rough, male sounding voice (low in pitch anyways) said "Do you know who I am".... I tried to answer but of course I couldn't talk or move. Then a few seconds later, everything is normal and its over. Of course I jump out of bed and run to the light (for what good that was gonna do, but hey).
That's it, hasn't happened again. The first two was in Florida when I was in school for the military.. the last was in NC at a duty station. All three in barracks room. That had to have been at least 9-10 years ago?
I think these ones are obnoxious. Can you imagine getting your jollies from being so malevolent? Your story makes me remember that thing about the pressure that I had forgotten about. Ack.
i had these experiences numerous times but it has not been in one place..it has been in a car in a hotel but mostly in my house in my living room if that means anything,,but newho the last two times i had it i was scared out of my witd
1. in the hotel my body went out in goosebumps nor could i move or talk..but the funny thing is is that whenever me and my bf went to this hotel i always felt really uncomfortable being there i was afraid to get off the bed. he thought i was crazy but thank god we eventually stop going there
2. the last time i had it..it was like 1 in the morning i went to wake but i could not move or scream and i seen something black in the corner of my eye that disappeared after a few seconds..(scared the crap out of me)..
its been awhile since i had one of these and i hope to god that it stays that way
Judy,
I have had just a single episode of sleep paralysis, and that was just a few months ago. I sincerely hope I never have another. I became conscious because I could clearly hear someone breaking into my home, really tearing the place apart..., and I had the very distinct sense of some very evil presence coming my way. I was sleeping on my stomach (very unusual for me), and it felt like something was on my back holding me down. As it got closer I was straining every muscle in my body, and at the last moment I could finally roll over, just as it came crashing through my bedroom door. I had to be dreaming that I could see this figure, standing about 7 foot tall. But I wasn't dreaming about sleeping on my stomach, that was real. I couldn't move, and that was real. The terror I was feeling was real enough for me. I don't think the term "sleep paralysis" nearly describes what was happening. However, the "experience" is a real medical condition. I really don't know what you can do about it. If I were you, I'd ask my doctor if it keeps happening. jeff
