I was wondering if anybody from this forum has tried automatic writing before?
If you have, can you share your experience here?
Did any specific message come through? Did words/letters/numbers that came through actually make sense, or did it seem random?
I'd love to learn more.

Some years ago, when I had a passing interest in some writings by Jeanne Guyon (1648-1717) I attempted automatic writing. In some of her works Guyon claimed to have written poetry and received 'messages from God' by automatic writing. This was the first time I had heard of it being associated with Christianity. Anyway, I tried a few sessions by putting my mind into a relaxed state, then waited for outside guidance to move my hand to write. No results. I tried a few different meditating methods while waiting for direction. Not even a scribble. I guess this was more of a Religious type of automatic writing than the traditional one of contacting people's spirits, although I was open at one point for any entities to communicate while performing these sessions. I hold the opinion now the majority of writings people produce this way are a product of their unconscious mind. I don't look for any mystical\supernatural revelations in my religious beliefs anymore.
I have never tried automatic writing, but have a sister-in-law that use to do it. She would tell me about going into a meditation state, and begin writing. I never experienced her writing, as she did it when alone. There is no doubt in my mind that she was able to write. She was not the type to embellish, or brag.

I would like to try it out soon. More research about it is needed. I used a type of automatic writing in journals to get to the subconcious mind. It was rather interesting.
I just saw on one of the science shows, dark matter, about the alien hand syndrome, and how automatic writing began when the first case apeared of alien hand syndrome. how many spiritualist were facinated with the idea that there could be another personality or spirit that causes such things as automatic writing. And believed that what caused the alien hand symdrome. It wasn't until latter the found that the problem was in the brain, where the two hemipsheres are cut as for like surgery for epileptics. This causes the left hand to "have a mind of his own" so to speak.
What I gathered is when automatic writing occurs, It's that other half of the brain at work. whether it also is caused by spirits I can't say. I hope someone with more info shows up/
Does anyone here remember when a television series called "ONE STEP BEYOND" aired back in the late fifties/early sixties? Consider this, in one episode there was the story of a female instructor who would sometimes start automatic writing at a chalkboard during class. However, this was no ordianary story. Seems the instructor was writing in a foreign language, and had no idea what the meaning was.
Turns out that a couple of the adult students knew very well what she was writing. It was a warning from a deceased woman that was involved with one of the students many years past. Seems this student/man had a crush on the deceased woman some years earlier. Bad thing was that this same man had a crush on the current instructor. In the mean time, it became evident that this man had apparently murdered the deceased woman years earlier..., because she rejected the his affections.
The current instructor learned the truth about this man, and shortly afterward he was arrested by law enforcement, for the murder of the deceased woman.
ONE STEP BEYOND? It sounds more like A HUNDRED STEPS BEYOND. Oh, this TV program was supposed to be based on well established FACTS. I don't believe this series was on TV for more than a year or so. You will find that YouTube is still showing these videos.
I've often suspected that some of these stories were fabricated, just to keep up thier TV ratings. Who am I to say so? Either way, it was very entertaining.
