Just read it. I have to say anyone who wants to have a degree or certification can find one for anything paranormal related, for the right fee of course.

They are all useless, very costly and not recognized by the department of education or the paranormal teams either so I agree it's just a way to defraud the public out of thier hard earned money. Unfortunately though, people think the paranormal is a field that will earn them tons of money and fame galore. It just won't happen.

In fact go ahead and offer some of these creditials to a team you want to work with...then sit back and watch them laugh at you. You know what they say about a fool and his money...

Great article - thx for posting.

I think this article showed both sides of the topic of "Paranormal Degree Accreditation," but primarily displayed examples of a negative side.

What most people don't realize is that there haven't really been any STANDARDS set yet in the field of paranormal studies - so someone can call his/herself an "authority" by writing 9 books full of bung and primarily opinion on certain paranormal topics...and "more text" is often considered a proof of authority in the paranormal field...

On the other hand... for myself, I question how much of an authority people in the hard sciences have or really deserve, too - so depending on whether or not a paranormal writer is able to write critically, I MIGHT consider an author in these topics an actual authority. I look for reference notes, citations, etc., but I'm not sure if other people do - before deciding what is a reasonable article or book on the paranormal.

Just thinking out loud here, I guess... responding to the article.

Thx again for posting!

What a bunch of bovine scatology. I think a person could instead be a member of this forum and come away with more then this scam offers and do it for free.

To graduate with a Master’s Degree in Metaphysics with a focus in Paranormal Studies, students must complete twelve courses as follows.

REQUIRED COURSES
ORD 500 Spiritual Development (Ordination Course)
CON 501 Principles of Metaphysics
PAR 501 Understanding our Paranormal Universe
PAR 502 The Art of Psychic Protection
RES 550 Research Methodology
RES 560 Capstone Project

CHOOSE ANY FOUR OF THE FOLLOWING COURSES
PAR 503 Science, Religion, and the Paranormal
PAR 502 Mental Illness and the Paranormal
PAR 511 Ghost-Hunting Techniques
PAR 601 Paranormal Science
PAR 602 EVPs, ITC, and Advanced Ghost Hunting Equipment
PAR 603 Spirit Detachment, Home and Business Clearing

Assuming a student is to complete 12 courses to achieve a Master's degree, total cost of tuition is $5,100. This does not include the cost of books and supplies as required for individual courses.

Refund Policy
When a student is entered into a course, they are given full access to all of the data therein. Given that most IMU instructors place their lectures into the course as audio files, students have the ability to download the entire body information up front. Therefore it is IMU policy not to offer refunds on any of our courses once a student is placed into the course and a log in is issued.

I wish they would show some examples of their spirit photography course.
I feel sorry for anyone who fall for this and whats worse I will really feel sorry for their clients.
I love how UNR has found another way to say "BS", lol! And I do call BS on this. I have known teams to offer courses FOR FREE at local libraries...my team, TnT, does this. But no one is claiming to be an 'expert' in anything..it is simply something for people who have had some experience in investigating and research to share with others who are interested. Period.

How is this justified? How does someone go to sleep every night knowing they have charged these kind of fees for things that have not been proven? I will go so far as to say that there are NO experts in the paranormal field. There are those who have been there longer, those who have done more research, and those who may be more knowledgeable in certain areas. But there are NO EXPERTS. And no one can justify charging these fees for a 'certificate' or a 'degree' in something that has no regulations.

Should there be regulations? Sure...regulations against people being able to do this and get away with it. And I completely agree with UNR's first sentence, when he said that someone could be a member of this forum and come away with more than these courses offer..and it is for free. We have wonderful members here who are glad to share experiences and knowledge..and none of them will claim the title "expert".

*rant over*...thanks for sharing that here, Melissa!
